I put 10% back into stocks, adding to all positions other than CCJ, UEC, silver and BAS, bringing cash to 35%.

Big push off the bottom.

I’m round tripping back into BAS, because I can, for $17.20. Pretty much a lot of nothing – I sold at $17.29 on Friday.

This makes BAS a full position again (10%), along with CCJ (22%). Everything else is half sized. Cash stands at 45%.

I like what’s going on in natural gas prices. I’m not going to be left out of one of my best ideas when it runs.

I loaded up on cash, making sales across the board on all positions. Most were locking in gains; a few like NRP and RMCF were locking in losses.

I sold every share of RMCF. The theory was that lower input prices would equate to business gains. It hasn’t happened, so I tossed the position for the losses.

Trash is floating to the top and Towers Watson is behaving like a tech stock.

It’s time to exit the moving vehicle while there’s still snow on the side of the road to catch you. The next half mile is nothing but gravel and frozen rivers.

I sold out the entire BALT position for $6.22, a 15.6% gain. I followed the Fly into the position in December.

However, I have learned over the years not to get attached to positions that didn’t originate from my own ideas. This was the Fly’s grunt work, and while I liked the position when I did my own inspection of it, and am quite pleased with the gains, it doesn’t necessarily fit into the larger picture I’m painting here. There are bound to be blind spots I have to its intimate nature, and the variance it exhibits probably won’t mesh well with my other holdings.

With the market slowing down here, this adds 12% to my cash position, and is generally the right move.

I made some adds to HCLP in November; on the sixth I bought a batch of shares for $30.80. I sold that batch today for $32.83, +6.6%

Love the name, but I have more than enough. I little profitable trading around the core position never hurt anyone.
