Google’s Nexus

nexusoneGoogle Inc. [[GOOG]] stands the only real chance at taking share from Apple, and I think they do starting in 2010. The Nexus, Google’s new phone, will be a  huge winner this upcoming year, allowing Google to control the internet once again via mobile phones.

My stock of the year for 2009, Google Inc. [[GOOG]] , was up a cool 95% YTD, and I believe the run continues into 2010, which is why GOOG will remain one of my top picks headed into the new year.

A little math for you:

The company expects to earn $26.37/share in 2010, If we use the current multiple (P/E ratio) of 40 going forward, that give us a price target of (26.37 x 40) $1,050. Which leads me to one of my predictions in 2010, GOOG is headed to $1000.

Riverboat Watchlist

press-your-luck

Here are a few names I will be watching tomorrow, Big Bucks No Whammies:

With the small cap independent oils running, I think it makes sense to speculate on [[RAME]] here. The 50 day is sitting right below price which gives you a perfect place to set your stop.

Keep an eye on [[RSOL]] , I am a buyer on any strength:

3rd Annual MadStock of the Year Contest

Registration begins Sunday night, so get your 2010 stock of the year ready. Market Monk will kick things off this weekend with his pick (winner has first pick), so be on the lookout for his stock.

In 2008, the prize was an autographed copy of Technical Analysis using mutliple time frames by Brian Shannon– I highly recommend this book to technical traders. This year’s prize has yet to be determined, but something is coming your way Monk. Maybe, a few free months to The PPT, or Woodshedder’s new dip system– I’ll see what I can get out of The Fly. Or, if you have a book in mind let me know, I will ship one will one your way.

One thing is for certain, I will be buying/shorting whatever stock Market Monk picks, his track record speaks loudly.

Here are the results current results for 2009. Congrats to the tipple digit % winners: MarketMonk, ZMoose, DaBears, Veritas5, Boca, Mdawsz, & Jingle. I missed the cut buy 7%, my pick in Google Inc. [[GOOG]] up 93% YTD. BTW, where is Boca & Mdawsz? You guys still around?

Here are the rules: No duplicate picks, limit 100 contestants, and this year the price limit will be $5– stock must be above $5 on 12/31.

Get your picks ready, post will go up Sunday night to begin the 3rd annual MadStock contest.

Failed Breakouts

Today’s action caused a lot of bullish setups on my watchlist to fail. We had a perfect chance for the overall market to break out from this trading range, yet we failed, again.

spx1

I would have loved to see a powerful breakout to the upside today.

______________________

Today’s action was extremely bearish for one of my new swings, Gushan Environmental Energy Limited [[GU]] . This one looked like it had so much potential early on, based on the chart it had every opportunity to spring off the 50 day, yet failed. This just goes to show you how powerful a move can be when the 50 day fails.

Metalico, Inc. [[MEA]] also looked great early on, but today’s candle was less than bullish.

mea1

My two swings, highlighted above, will be cut immediately on further overall weakness.  This is no time to hold stocks if they are not working, volume will be light for the remainder of the year, and sellers will come in to clear position sheets as we head to the New Year. If a trade is not working, get out and move on.

Here are a few bullish setups I will be watching tomorrow:

SandRidge Energy Inc. [[SD]]

Pride International, Inc. [[PDE]]

E TRADE Financial Corporation [[ETFC]]

Headwaters Incorporated [[HW]]

And, on the short side, Fuqi International, Inc. [[FUQI]]
