Chris Perruna has been all over this name: post 1 & post 2

Note: Don’t forget about [[CHNR]]. The stock has a low float with potiential to explode higher, especally with tonight’s headline, “Asian markets advanced Monday, as resource stocks rallied on higher commodity prices.

Take a look at this triangle. It’s almost a big as my fiance’s engagement ring:

People Are Rich(er), Where I Live

We have oil, and lots of it.

The city I live in was built on oil, just about everybody I know works for an energy company. 401K are ripping as many independent oil and gas companies are hitting new highs everyday.

People cheer when gas price move higher, they love to see natural gas in double digits, they threw parties when oil hit $100, it’s quite unreal actually. Matter of fact, our economy is the exact opposite of yours.

Here are a few local picks:

First Solar Thought

I hear a lot of talk about shorting solar, and that the moves are unsustainable. This may be true for a few of the names, but I believe [[FSLR]] is a beast of its own.

Why is it when FSLR catches a huge move everyone is ready to short it? Why not embrace it? I’m not here to say FSLR will hit $1000, but I do think it has more room to run.

The company is predicted to have over 100% growth for 2009. With that kind of growth it’s reasonable to pay up for the stock.

The current P/E is around 140, which in my opinion is reasonable given the growth rate, and looking at next year’s numbers the company is expected to earn $5.05/share.

Lets do a few calculations:

Current multiple of 140 X 5.05 = price target of $703.34

Egregious! Let’s use a multiple of 100:

100 X 5.05 = $505

Looking at this calculation, it’s not unreasonable to say [[FSLR]] could double from here.

Tug of War

As you can tell by putting up a daily chart of the DOW, it was a tug of war bonanza. The good news is, we are now getting news we expect, the jobs report was bad, but we expected that. When things get unpredictable is when you need to worry.

I hate to say it, but we might have some sort of a short term bottom. P/E ratios are reasonably low, stimulus checks are going out in May, it may be time to get drunk and buy stocks again.

Stay tune for some weekend links and ideas.
