Mama! I’m hooooome!

Oh Denky boy, the goats, the goats are calling
From poisoned well, and down the slag-pit side
The Ceausescus are gone, and all the beetroots dying
‘Tis you, ’tis you must go, my lovely mail-ordered bride.
But come ye back when th’ goatherd’s in the meadow
Or when the valley’s flushed with car-o-bolic snow
‘Tis I’ll be here in radiated fallllll-ouuuut
Oh Denky boy, oh Denky boy, I love you so.
And if you come, when all the beetroot’s dying
And I am broke, as broke I well may be
You’ll come and find the space where I am hiding….
And kneel and close the manhole cov’r on me.
And I shall hear, tho’ soft you tread above me
And all my Magnum re-runs will warm and sweeter be
If you’ll not hail the great Bernaaaaank-keee
I’ll simply slip the noose ’round nearest tree…..
I’ll simply slip the noose ’round nearest treeeeeee

Remember the cycles, and the patterns. One can hear the goats bleating from here…
No changes today, save additional patience. Best to you all.

Enlighten me as to the cycle we are now in?
Recovery?
Double dip?

Late Autumn.
________
The Jake,
You come up with some [funny] shit, half of which I don’t get.
(Ok, 2/3’s)
Alright, 95%.
If you are smiling, then that’s enough.
__________
Don’t worry no one else does either but he’s great at banking coin which is all that matters here.
Oh fer cripes…
Get aculturated, ye damnable Philistines!
(probably a passel of Prods)
__________
Jake,
Savage going back, all in. I am thinking we are going to get another bear flag here and one more woosh down.
Are you still out aside from the core?
Thanks
Yep.
___
What does your cryptic title mean; that you are currently reassessing your current negative equity/gold/silver stance?
I’m always open to reassessment, but I am not yet ready to take the Savage route.
No, the title is a prediction. Not just the stock market runs in cycles, you know. Everything does.
________
Savages swinging fm 35% exp to 130% may work for him, but too extreme for me.
Agreud. And I’m not sure the dollar is not going to swing low any second.
Do me a favor and pull up a weekly chart of $USD going back to the beginning of 2008. Now run the fib lines from the spike bottom of the dollar in March ’08 to the spike top in ’09 (when the market started coming back, not coincidentally).
Next, pull the lines over to the right side of the chart til they get to today. What do you see?
_______
It looks like we’re closer to the bottom than the top and the USD should bounce soon .. is that what you’re getting at?
61.8 % fib = Golden Ratio, but yeah, that too.
_________
Quite clever.
I grew up in a country that neighbours Romania. Everyone hates them. They have a vastly inflated sense of self-worth. Probably because they think they’re descended from the Romans. They have first names live Trajan, Octavian and Julius. As a people they’re the perfect combination of dumbness and ego, making them perfect management material.
Eastern Europeans are a tough bunch. Maybe it’s that Dracula thing?
_____
FYI Vlad was half Hungarian / half Moldovan
That explains it, he was an oppressed undocumented alien, no doubt.
______
FWIW I’m Hungarian. Everyone hates us too, because we were more cultured than the rest of those Balkan peasants and tried to teach them some civility, sometimes through uncivil means.
Now that I think about it, everyone hates everyone else over thurr [sic].
Certainly “Yugoslavia” was a tremendously bad idea.
_______
My daughter spent two years in the Peace Corps in an area just north of the Transylvania area of Romania where unemployment was about 30% and the EU was making them close a bunch of mines as a condition to entry.
You don’t want to go to Romania.
And you don’t want any one you like to go into the Peace Corps.
I have plenty of stories.
My salute.
That was extremely well done!
Was your lynching threat to the goatherd the reason for his selling VXX and trusting in “The Bernank’? Tied in some info about the current goings on… Me reary rike a rot! Excellent pacing and rhyme. You played the ink and took the time to advance quality (unlike me).
Post a link to your “book of poetry”. -please and thanks.
It’s really just a bastardization of a famous Irish song, Danny Boy. Note the link above (“get aculturated!”) for the real thing.
My paternal grandfather used to sing it at the piano at parties when I was a kid .
_______
I am well familiar with the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCbuRA_D3KU
I received some bagpipes for Christmas last year. My goal is to be able to do 3 songs (with no requirement for quality other than vague recognizability): Danny Boy, Amazing Grace, and that one pipers always play, Scotland the Brave.
Your poor family!
_____
Jake, interesting read. Disregard if you have already perused it.
http://finance.yahoo.com/banking-budgeting/article/111955/has-golds-heroic-seller-gone-away?mod=bb-budgeting&sec=topStories&pos=6&asset=&ccode=
Had not read it, but I’m skeptical it was a “uni-seller” and not a more expected respite.
Meanwhile, this is something I think Virginia should look into…
Maybe a rifled musket for you guys?
_____
Mr. Woodshedder has already submitted his entry
lmao…We need to steal that for the blog images.
It’s an old photo. The beard is now a goatee, and he now has a bigger gun.
Looks like a 1930s issue anti-tank rifle. Can’t pinpoint it, exactly, though. Fuck that’s awesome.
I heard about Utah on the news. I think it is great. When I was a kid, my dad and I built a rifled flint-lock musket. It was beautiful, but the damned thing was very very inaccurate. I used to have a blast playing around with the flint, sans gunpowder, of course.
You should read some of the Sharp Series by Bernard Cornwell. All about the first Baker Rifles, and their technical superiority to the (unrifled) muskets at the time.
Good beach reading.
______
A common theme in David Weber’s books too. I especially loved the advancement explanations of warefare machinations in the “safehold series”.

I propose that this be the official handgun of Disney World.

The metals are making nasty new lows while the PM stocks are holding up relatively well.
This, plus a number of sentiment indicators, suggests that the bottoming process (not the “bottom”, mind you) is upon us.
So I am taking my first wee bite — 5000 shares of AG (First Majestic Silver) — and will keep on chewing until Feb 7.
Yeah, I’m letting my buy stops fill. Already got some SLW at 29.05 the other day. Everything else sits and waits.
______
I dipped into my “core” positions and unloaded PMs in size today–especially GLD and SLV. I’m sure this means we are at the bottom but I can’t afford to sit back and let these things continue to get creamed.
Tomorrow we turn in the PM’s sector!
What happens to GLD when it goes down? Do they dump all the bullion on the market?
Actually, they fill up a dump truck and drop it in Jake’s yard.
Jason,
The NAV goes down to reflect the lower value of their holdings but they also dump gold as well. As a recent article on Minyanville (you’ll have to search for it) states, sizable dumps in GLD tend to come clustered around major lows in gold. We had one such dump two days ago.
Thanks. I found the article. Interesting stuff. Wonder if it holds true this time around.
Teahouse — Here’s a good article about that crowding out investment argument we were having the other night.
