No Time For Chest Pounding

Gorilla

                                                                             Oy! My freakin’ head!

________________________________________

This is no game for Windmill-Tilters, my friends.   The Market (with a capital “M”) does not care much for your chest pounding or your Tarzan yodeling.  You might get Jane this weekend, but you will lose your long sleeve of bananas and your thatch hut in the prospect.

I’ve mentioned already that I took time today to sell calls against my large Monsanto Company [[MON]] position.  I sold 30  January $85 calls for $3.20 a piece.  That marks the last of my hedging of my large holdings.   That’s called “battening down the hatches,” for you Captains Courageous’s at home.

I also bot another 50 [[SPY]] January 110 puts @ $2.79.    Listen up, Dragon Chasers.  I’ve made a lot of dough since March, and I’ll be diggedy-dogged if I’m going to let it get snatched away in a clandestine Grinch Raid into Whoville.     Retail’s getting tired, and December is about retail.   As goes Saks Incorporated [[SKS]] so goes yonder Christmas rally.

But do as you will.   Keep stretching that win streak out with large Roulette bets on Red #27.   Keep laughing at that strengthening dollar and pay no attention to that Bernanke Shoppe-Vac sucking away in the corner.

Keep saying: Liquidity has NOTHING to do with this rally.

Keep chanting:  This is a fundamentally driven market.

Keep praying:  Let us break the 1,122 ceiling, much like the little blue puffer-belly that could.

May these intercessions to the Turkey Gods bring you safety.  I shall not rely upon them.

Know this — [[DZZ]] is your reverse canary in a coal mine.   It strengthens and becomes a great black vulture, deep in the carbon dust, and soon it will unfurl it’s noisome wings… and eat your liver out.

With that, have a very nice weekend, do!

      YES, those dudes are scary.

But watch UK v. NC this weekend too… should be a great one, and both teams will improve tremendously going into the Tourney.

This year, before NBC hands over its stake to Comcast, they will replace “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” and all Grinch references with Goldman. Search and Replace.

I get the protect your gains but for me there’s no year end, it’s a continuous cycle. When there’s an uptrend or in this case a ‘slap chop in a box’ just in time for xmas, I press it and sit on my ass until the market tells me I’m wrong.

Narrator: As the Grinch took the tree, as he started to shove, he heard a small sound like the coo of a dove. He turned around fast and he saw a small Who. Little Cindy Lou Who, who was no more than two. She stared at the Grinch and said…
Cindy Lou Who: Santie Claus, why? Why are you taking our Christmas tree? Why?
Narrator: But do you know, that old Grinch was so smart and so slick, that he thought up a lie and he thought it up quick.
Grinch: Why my sweet little tot…
Narrator: The fake Santie Claus lied…
Grinch: …there’s a light on this tree that won’t light on one side. So I’m taking it home to my workshop, my dear. I’ll fix it up there, then I’ll bring it back here.
Narrator: And his fib fooled the child. Then he patted her head, he got her a drink and he sent her to bed. And when Cindy Lou Who was in bed with her k-cup, he crupt to the chimney and stuffed the tree up. Then he went up the chimney himself, the old liar, and the last thing he took was the log for their fire. On their walls he left nothing but hooks and some wire. And the one speck of food that he left in the house was a crumb that was even too small for a mouse.

I may simply let my Verizon contract end in February.

The gotcha is a new contract (for wireless Internet card) will certainly have a 5 GB monthly bandwidth limit, after which it will be like a $$$ taxicab ride. That was the basis for my Internet cost rant the other day.

I have no problem with their 1yr/2yr agreements. I agreed to that originally and a contract is a contract.

However, those fuggers tried to pull a fast one on me and homie don’t play that.

My two year agreeement was way past that at this point.

My wife was out of the country over the summer so i suspended her line on our family plan deal.

She came back from her trip, i reactivated her line. Same phone, same number..no problemo right?

Anyway, short story long, they hit me with the early termination fee on her line when we switched to AT&T because they said i automatically entered a 1 yr contract when they reinstated her line.

          Uhmm, say again, cochese?

Fugger who reactivated the line told me (maybe, who can really remember?) i wouldn’t have any additional contractual obligations.

The fee was less than 200 bones but fuch them, no?

Was most of this gold drop when the Chinese buyers were on their weekend? As I view them as the price maker in the market I will be watching to see if gold continues down once they are back at work.

    Have a good weekend.

All at once? I have a limit buy on EXK at about 3.20 – I missed that FTKer at 3.01 – I may catch it this time. A look at the gold chart over the last year shows regular pullbacks and this may be one, no? I have never been able to get any handle on the dollar other than it seems to go up for several years and then trend down for several years.

Dollar’s not done going down here…. just due for a rebound.

As for EXK, $3.25 is a nice support zone, but I’m leaning towards the 61.8% retrace as a more likely resting place. that would be right around $3.03.

Also, the bottom of the second consilidation zone (on the weekly) is at $2.90. That would be a “mortgage the farm” buy, even thought it will be tough to do if it gets there.

        Carrots on the chopping block.

Hit the old highs (about $520) almost exactly and sold off pretty much from there. First stop, $450, then 13 week MA at $440, and then all the way back to $377, possibly.

Hey, did you guys know that this New Year’s Eve there will be a Blue Moon? First one in 18 years on, and not another one for another 18 years. At least not on New Year’s Eve. So plan accordingly.

And this is not a car sales vid, Jake, so don’t be diss’n it, like all my other favorite songs.

PS I’m trying really hard not to buy any gold here, just waiting and watching.
