Green Stocks! The “green screen”…

Ah, green stocks! Finding a green stock in today’s tape is like finding a cute girl on TV while watching  womens’ track and field.  Or women’s Olympic-lifting.

With the Dow down over -300 in the past two days, I decided to run one my favorite day trading/swing trading screens.  I call it the “Green Screen”.  Works well in contrarian days (ie, look for green stocks in the past 2 days when the market was deep red).

Criteria:

Price % gain vs Today low >= 3%   … screen for today’s movers

Volume > average

Volume >= 500k

Price % gain vs. Previous >= 1% … a possible two-day trend can signal strength.

So simple yeah?  It’s a great way to find a surf spot!  Helps you to see which sectors are making waves.  Here you go:

Petroleo Brasileiro SA (ADR) [[pbr]]

BHP Billiton Limited (ADR) [[bhp]]

Schlumberger Limited [[slb]]

Occidental Petroleum Corporation [[oxy]]

Potash Corp./Saskatchewan (USA) [[pot]]

EnCana Corporation (USA) [[eca]]

Suncor Energy Inc. (USA) [[su]]

The Mosaic Company [[mos]]

Devon Energy Corporation [[dvn]]

Canadian Natural Resource Ltd (USA) [[cnq]]

Halliburton Company [[hal]]

Apache Corporation [[apa]]

Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. [[fcx]]

Hess Corp. [[hes]]

Tenaris S.A. (ADR) [[ts]]

Barrick Gold Corporation (USA) [[abx]]

National-Oilwell Varco, Inc. [[nov]]

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation [[apc]]

Chesapeake Energy Corporation [[chk]]

Weatherford International Ltd. [[wft]]

EOG Resources, Inc. [[eog]]

Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (ADR) [[sid]]

Baker Hughes Incorporated [[bhi]]

Gerdau SA (ADR) [[ggb]]

Goldcorp Inc. (USA) [[gg]]

You could have said “commodity stocks are up,” and saved yourself the trouble.

I was just gonna ask, can you find which sector is moving?

This is a two-day screen so it knocked off a lot of the commodity stocks down yesterday. In other words, searching for strength in the strongest sector.

But yeah, I had to type in all those tickers and all those [[]][[][][][][][][][][]]]]]]]]]]]]][[[[[[[[[[[][][][][][[[[[]

At first, the Russian girl looked good while she was running. I was like, hey, nice eyes. then they interviewed her and I was like, um… nah.

Ringer, I was sortah referring to the Olympics, since that’s the only time i watch women’s track and field…

… but based on that last picture of the Paraguayan hottie, I think I’m gonna have to TiVo more track and field sports. Long track and field South American women, short European olympic-weight lifters girls.
