Saturday Night at Chess Cinemas

Ed Wood (1994) pulls off the feat of trying to make a very good movie about a real-life terrible film director. This would be one of many famous collaborations between Director Tim Burton and star Johnny Depp. Memorable performances by Depp, Martin Landau and Sarah Jessica Parker make this black and white comedy-drama worth watching.

Few films are as quoted and especially referenced as Deliverance (1972). The story seems innocent enough in the beginning, with a  bunch of middle-aged men going on a canoeing trip. However, depending on where you live and how many places you have visited in your life, the rest of the film may very well scare the hell out of you.

It does not get much better than watching Clint Eastwood and John Malkovich square off in a high stakes cat and mouse game. Well, perhaps adding Rene Russo into the fold does.

Chariots of Fire (1981) is one of the better movies referencing the Olympics. The theme song played in the clip below is about as ubiquitous as can be. Definitely an inspiring film and worth checking out.
