Investing in companies trying to develop therapies for dread diseases puts capital into their pocket for the ongoing research and development of effective medicines. That would seem a good thing.
And the very fact that shares are so liquid and tradeable helps to uphold capital markets so that companies will go public, thus raising tons of additional cash.
There is nothing unethical about giving money to people fighting / help fighting Ebola. If there was a poor people in Africa dying horrible deaths ETF, that would be unethical.
