I will be tinkering with some screens inside The PPT this weekend in search of subtle Black Friday retail plays beyond the obvious ones.
For now, feel free to drop me your favorite ideas.
Also, note Wal-Mart came on strong late-last week.

Chess, I was thinking maybe another direction: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/pizza-sales-boom-on-eve-of-thanksgiving-2011-11-23
In addition to Thanksgiving eve, those hungry shoppers aren’t going to be running home mid-rumble for turkey leftovers… I’m flying somewhat blind from my phone, but in looking at the obvious candidates, PZZI is somewhat of a laggard compared to DPZ & PZZA. Maybe its worth a shot?
Very interesting, thanks Unc!
Chess, thoughts on the huge volume reversal on P? I bot the Nov29 28P when P was close to its morning highs. Would like to see a break of 28.20 for a quick flush to 27. Can you make that happen for me please?

Ahh America the land where we trample eachother to obtain more electronics one day after celebrating and being thankful for what we already have.
LoL
I’ve been small and long in $MTN for a while. There’s some black friday retail elements (aka ski season)… but would like to know what you see.
Very interesting name. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Silky smooth uptrend the past few quarters. Want to see it clear $76 next.
$NUGT $GLD $USLV China drops bombshell – Banks will trade Gold Swaps thru Singapore Exchange starting 11/25. PM advocate Jim Sinclair named Exec.Chair. As only physical or cash can be transacted through Singapore, this will undermine the influence of derivatives on COMEX. Initially this may result in arbitrage trading, but very quickly that by itself will drive up the COMEX price due to efficient markets.

Interesting, thanks.
In terms of predicting the direction of short term markets, note that silver net short positions are now within spitting distance of the lowest numbers seen. Gold net short positions are down a lot, too.

Agreed–Still very strong. Thanks, Bill.
Hey bud, I’ve noticed increased interest in solar from many iBC bloggers this quarter. It’s not retail, but I’d like to hear your opinion on solar flagship FSLR monthly chart.
Monthly trying to put in a major bottom. Like to see $56 hold on pullbacks. Room to run up to $100 before overhead supply kicks in likely.
PIR always good this time of year
Nice one, gator.
KORS – or is that one of the obvious ones?
KORS is a stud.
EL – breakout on daily
Good eye, thanks.
Chess, I am thinking bestbuy play, it has great deals apart from wmt. may be it get a pop because of good sales number
Nice!
&P 500 has generated a return of 0.32% one day prior to Thanksgiving and returned 0.08%, on average, on Black Friday. http://goo.gl/3qxSOS
Thanks!
