No position here, so let’s get right to it.
In what has been an otherwise impressive day for the market, Apple is lagging and bears are pointing to it as some type of bearish omen.
On the daily chart, first below, note the potential now for a bullish inverse head and shoulders bottom, which of course is predicated on Apple making a a major higher low on this pullback. In order to get some type of symmetry to take the pattern seriously, Apple bulls should vigorously defend $419, if tested. So, there is room to drop further from here without bears full seizing control.
On the second chart below, you can see the monthly timeframe, where the “dragonfly doji” (a variation of the hammer bottoming candlestick) is still in play. Here, again, a pullback to $419 would not negate the potentially bullish candle.
So we have to let this play out some more before declaring another major leg lower. That said, I suspect there are quite a few stop-losses placed just below that $419 level ($434 is the first short-term support level to watch), and it could indeed lead to waterfall if not adequately defended.
