Another take on VIX would be it is showing complacency where none should exist – bearish.
Yes, I discussed that argument in the video.
How is VIX calculated? This has always been a mystery to me. Who determines it? Is it algo based? Who determines implied volatility for a specific option etc. “Implied volatility” has been wrong the past few weeks.
The entire notion of implied volatility seems a little ridiculous to begin with – who is actually able to say more than one hour out how volatile the market is likely to be?
Oh boy. If only there was some way you could find this out on your own.
