How Badly Would Usain Bolt Destroy the Best Sprinter of 1896?

I will be back in a moment with market analysis. However, this is about the coolest Olympics interactive graph that I have ever seen, maybe ever of any interactive graph.

Check it out by clicking here over at slate.com and see how sprinters stack up to each other from years past.

hand time and could be closer to 9.5 but still considering how bad the tracks were and how good the shoes are now… he would beat Bolt…
Chris Johnson could beat bolt in the first 40 yards, but over 100M it would probably be Bolt

Very cool. Check out Bob Beaman (USA), 1968 – 29′ 2.5″ long jump. That is un-freaking real.

Beaman knew he did something special as he jumped, really incredible. I think the runner-up was 2 feet shorter.

An ancient Olympic long jumper did something like 50 feet and broke both legs on landing. He carried weights for assistance but still an amazing feat.
