The Great U.S. Post Office Correction

I see headlines all the time now about U.S. Post Offices closing for a variety of financial reasons, as well as with the emergence of email and private sector carriers. These closings are in stark contrast to the rapid growth seen in U.S. Post Offices in the 18th and 19th centuries. I wonder if we will ever go back to Post Office growth again.     if it wasnt for ups,the post office would have never known how to grow from 1917 till now.fdx wouldnt be in existence. and the pony express never died.
