Double Indemnity (1944) is easily one of the top ten films that I have ever seen. In the following scene, note how much is tactfully implied to the audience about the characters involved and their motives, rather than spoon-fed like most movies do today, if that. Raymond Chandler’s dialogue, Billy Wilder’s directing, and the acting is all first class and puts most of what you see nowadays to shame. You will also want to see Edward G. Robinson’s phenomenal performance (not in this scene) as Walter Neff’s boss. Click here to see the full synopsis of the film.

One of my all time favorites. I’ve watched it several time recently.
Nice
Great. Haven’t seen it in years. It’s really amazing what film can be when not “gunked up” with special effects and eye-candy.
Indeed–rare nowadays.
The speed limit portion is priceless. Thanks for posting, Chess
Welcome–enjoy the weekend.
cheesnwine,
I notice you like stocks at or near yearly/52 week highs as per the charts you show as potential breakout candidates. Isn’t that the opposite of buy low/sell high?
“Low” can go much much lower, just as “high” can go much much higher. Generally speaking, I’d rather buy stocks on their way up with healthy price action and volume than on the way down.
Stanwyck’s best.
