Santelli and Other Heroes

If it’s a schtick, so what?  If it’s an act, who cares? He’s saying what ought to be said.

It’s absolutely a perfect metaphor for our political process that these asshats think they can go after the big banks and securities players while leaving the hot steaming mess of Fannie Mae [[FNM]] and Freddie Mac [[FRE]] for another day and another half trillion dollar bailout.

It has to end, and thank the Lord for big mouths like Rick Santelli who know the game and will call them on it.

As for other heroes….

Allied Nevada Gold Corp. [[ANV]]   Boom!

IAMGOLD Corporation (USA) [[IAG]] Bam!

Golden Star Resources Ltd. (USA) [[GSS]] Shhhhher-pop!

Eldorado Gold Corporation (USA) [[EGO]] — Shazzam!

[[EXK]]   Ker-Pow!

And this is less than half the list…

Where to watch for a step off?  Easy, I think:

Enjoy, but remain vigilant.  Best to you all.

Bring your sack, the LED leaders are marching forward with their grapes of wrath unfurled, and you want to be in that number, lest you take the hard edge of me terrible swift sword.

Hmmmm…. I think I feel an anthem coming on… bum-bum-bummmmmm…. nah, it’s passed.

I don’t mean to boast idly, but I was up 4.2% today and not, as you might believe, due to my precious metal portfolio alone. Make no mistake, those names were up nicely today, with Allied Nevada Gold Corp. [[ANV]] ,Rubicon Minerals Corp. (USA) [[RBY]] , NovaGold Resources Inc. (USA) [[NG]] , [[BAA]] , Exeter Resource Corp. [[XRA]] and my baby Silver Wheaton Corp. (USA) [[SLW]] leading my dogpack of precious metallicas like a dogsledder seeking Siberia from Alaska.

Others in my port, however, were up just as — or even more — handsomely, with the “3 T’s” racking in large horde — Thompson Creek Metals Company, Inc. [[TC]] , Teck Cominco Limited (USA) [[TCK]] and benighted Titanium Metals Corporation [[TIE]] rocking worldviews, and even Sud Ameriquan lithium developer Sociedad Quimica y Minera (ADR) [[SQM]] rebounded well today. Crazy Central European Distribution [[CEDC]] has finally woken back up, and Trannie King United Parcel Service, Inc. [[UPS]] looks to be leading the rebound with the Transports.

Nothing seems to lead these markets like the LED stocks, however, and I won’t rest until M. Le Docteur de le Fly is invested in the two leaders Cree, Inc. [[CREE]] and Veeco Instruments Inc. [[VECO]] , who have become the spokesmodels for Woody’s “relative strength” in this post-apocalyptic age.

First, note the Cree, Inc. [[CREE]] weekly, and slap yourself in the head for missing this opportunity:

I’d like to see that weekly volume bar increase as the week goes on, and I believe it will, especially when taking on the daily view:

The 20-day had held support for a while, so a launch back above it should be encouraging.  I  (luckily) added 2k more of both CREE and VECO last week as I had “low-ball” (heh, right) buy orders laid in that took advantage of the downdraft.   These two are a large part of my gain advantage today, and I think they will continue to lead.

For all the relative strength shown in Cree, Inc. [[CREE]] , check it out in Veeco Instruments Inc. [[VECO]] below… surely this is one of the strongest stocks in the universe right now, no?   Lay in wait, but do pounce as I have:

Stay on your toes, and be nimble, but I don’t think this liquidity wash is over  just yet.   Stay safer by grabbing tech leaders like the LED-ers, and hard money targets.  Everything else is suspect, and should be eschewed indeud.

Best to you all.

Don’t Go Off Half-Coked

In more civilized days, I wouldn’t even have to make a pun title, but these are coarser times and someone might take the original cliche the wrong way, so I’ve made it a drug reference for the weak minded.

No matter, it’s a warning to those of you who would take tonight’s pre-market rebound as reason to snort piles of pink-flake coca products and go long every stock in the Tim Penny Stock Aisle.

My advice, take a more cautionary route and stick with the vehicles that will truly benefit from the near guaranteed inflation of the ECB, now all but certain with this latest package of six jugajillion new Eurotards for the shoring of Greece, Macedonia, Phillipi, the outer Crete Islands, and– as a bonus– Reno, Nevada.

Those vehicles be made of things that glitter and hold their value in a paper mache schit-storm.   Just one I propose tonight is [[EXK]] , which I think is going to lift off again within a day or two.   Note the bouncing at support:

Yes the stochs have not completely turned up yet, as they have w. Silver Wheaton Corp. (USA) [[SLW]] and [[CDE]] which are also eminently buyable, but I think EXK will be a late bloomer like it’s older compadres have been as well.

Another you should keep an eye on is $TRAN king, United Parcel Service, Inc. [[UPS]] .   I think it may be a “first to recover” stock as well, along with the PM sector.

Be cautious tomorrow, and if you must buy, make it a tangible.  One of my PM pics (Allied Nevada Gold Corp. [[ANV]] an Eldorado Gold Corporation (USA) [[EGO]] are easy) should be considered, but everything in moderation for now.   Let’s see how this shakes out.   Keep an eye on Titanium Metals Corporation [[TIE]] an it’s other heavy metal friends [[TC’]] and Teck Cominco Limited (USA) [[TCK]] for additional possible ads.

My best to you all.

Pennies for Pennes

pasta mona
_____________________________________________

What do I always say to you about dire times?  You want to buy gold, silver… and pasta of course.   What are you going to do, eat heavy metals that are far more useful worked into cheery adornments and dental hardware?

No, of course not.

In times of rising food prices, you want to eat staples that will fill your belly while providing you the carbo-rush you need to get you through those crucial trading hours between early morning sugar frosted bombs (and coffee) and late afternoon Butterfingers bar from the vending machine (and cawfee).

You need pasta to fill your demanding gut.   With some red gravy, or maybe some butter, or a light slathering of pesto.   You want the hot hot penne, the tri-color wagon wheels, the masticola.   So, it seems,  do many others, if judging by today’s nice action amidst Col. Kurtz’s “horror the horror” market show (brought to you be Procter & Gamble) will attest.

Check what this li’l beauty did today among the carnage that is all things not precious metals:

Now granted, this sucker had good numbers today… with expanding gross and net operating margins.   That’s all good, but you know that the real reason for [[AIPC]] ‘s increasingly good numbers is “the new frugality.”

Embrace it, pop it in your mouth, swish it aroun your tongue.   It’s the latest thing.

Not the latest thing is the relative strength of gold and to some extent, silver, in this downdraft.   Yes, even with [[UUP]] threatening $25 again, and the dollar index (DXY) being over $85 this afternoon, it seems the PM’s are holding their own.   This bodes very well for them on any reduction of the dollar’s recent climb.

That said, my perfomers today were [[GLD]] and [[SLV]] , Allied Nevada Gold Corp. [[ANV]] and Eldorado Gold Corporation (USA) [[EGO]] , and [[EXK]] and [[GDX]] , IAMGOLD Corporation (USA) [[IAG]] and Royal Gold, Inc. [[RGLD]] , my favourite here.

I like all the PM’s until further notice… they’ve decoupled from the dollar, and that can only be a good thing.

I also got hammered today in Monsanto Company [[MON]] and [[TBT]] , as was so kindly pointed out by my own personal troll.   Amazingly, I bot some more MON just below $60, though not far enough below.  I continue to like both names.

I am near exhaustion level, ladies and germs, business is that crazy.   I’m sorry I didn’t get to post a new one to you intraday today, but I will try to be there, at least through the comment section, in doozy dozy days like today.  Be safe, as Fly says, but look for the rebound here tomorrow.

My best to you all.

Correction Not Affecting My Ego

Narcissus

Curse the Gods of the Precious all ye may, unbelievers and heretics of the Vixx Vapo-Rub-TLT Coalition!  Ye shall not daunt me, nor my precious ego.

Or should I say Eldorado Gold Corporation (USA) [[EGO]] ? For like Allied Nevada Gold Corp. [[ANV]] , IAMGOLD Corporation (USA) [[IAG]] and many of the components of [[GDX]] , my massive EGO made a doji high hammah (or whatevah) on strong volume today, indicating their are dip buyers and accumulators galore interested in the safety of these miners and their precious byproducts.

Lookee, here, soldier, and note ye the last two days of EGO-centric action after the recent breakout:

egodaily

Not bad action on almost double average volume on a down day, no?  What’s more, in after hours, the stock was even green by a tad, much like Goldcorp Inc. (USA) [[GG]] ended the day today.

As for the dollar, it strikes me that it’s at least temporarily peaking out, with the 50% fib line fast approaching on the weekly chart, and on increasingly lower volume.  I think [[UUP]] may touch the 50% mark at $24.43, but I think the dollar retreats soon thereafter.  Note:

uupweekly

Which is why I believe we were seeing all these PM and PM miner dojis today.   Howabout that?  Get on, or dance the Hugh Hendry in chagrin.

Best to you all.

Leaders Still Running

Yeah, the dollar is up, but so are the precious metals, so go figure.   It’s not often you see [[UUP]] riding an updraft right along with it’s mortal enemy, real money in the form of [[GLD]] and [[SLV]] .

What’s going on?  Well, I’ll tell you what I think and it’s just a theory… but I believe the Euro is headed for a bad night with the Reaper, and all the printing presses in Frankfurt are better off producing saurkraut than Euro-denominated debt to back this Grecian salvage job we saw today.

I’m getting major deja vu, ovah heah, and maybe you are all a tremble with it too.  Remember when the gov’t stepped in and demanded that Jamie Dimon save that piece of rat’s offal, the Bear Stearns Company?  And then soon after, it became impossible to save Lehman Brothers in turn, despite that latter bank’s greater importance to the capital markets’ zeitgeist?

Well, I’m thinking we are going to see the same here with Spain and maybe even Portugal and Italy lining up at the Eurotrough, if this most recent Moral Hazard Play works it’s way out in similar fashion to that of our own Wall Street bank collapse fiasco in 2008.

I mean, why stop at Greece?  That is, unless you have to?

That said, there are havens of safety and they are in the leaders.   One such King Kong in the precious metal space is Allied Nevada Gold Corp. [[ANV]] , which I’ve loved since it was a little $6 stock, barely in knee pants.

For the love of Uncle Mike, why don’t you pay attention to my picks like this one?  Do I not provide enough excitement with these double and triple baggers over a 12 month period?  Ah well, it’s not like I haven’t been eating my own pudding, right?  My gosh, take a look at this weekly chart:

anvwkly

Yes, that’s pretty much “free air” you are seeing in these current climes… marked by very little resistance.   I’d love to see this beauty taken out by one of the acquisition-minded bigs, but I’m content to sit on my gains and allow them to continue to accumulate, no mattah (sic).

Speaking of charts that look like Cree, Inc. [[CREE]] look at CREE, again, and don’t forget about the monster move Veeco Instruments Inc. [[VECO]] made today.  Make no mistake, these companies are going to be the new tech leaders, much like the Microsoft Corporation [[MSFT]] ‘s and Dell Inc. [[DELL]] ‘s and eBay Inc. [[EBAY]] ‘s were in the techy past.   You should be content to accumulate these plays, along with such other long term targets like Royal Gold, Inc. [[RGLD]] and Monsanto Company [[MON]] .

That’s what I’m here for… the long term stuff and the stability.   Not overly exciting, but a great deal of solid companies, doing the best in their fields.   Now go on, get.  There’s probably some teevee on, or something…
