The pop in gold today and the volume this week in @ZG means we finally break this massive inverse H&S for good and charge to $1,300. If relationships stay in-line, the dolar will shit the shower during this period, and stocks will initially rally – through say….hmmmmm…..October? Then, while gold continues to rocket and the dollar falls on it’s face smothering that skinny commie bastard Hu Jintao, the stock market will quiver like the junkie dependent sht that it is. Then, November/December will be HoHoHorrible.
Fly should pay you double your rate over the next quarter since your readership will at least double during the Great Gold Rush of ’09. We wil be known as the ’09ers and the only ones making money at the end of it are those selling calls (aka, pickaxes and shovels) at the end of the run. Damn, this will be fun.

I only know of people who are:
1) Moving from one place in Lawn Guyland to another (i.e., “the Trapped”), and
2) Moving da hell out of Lawn Guyland (i.e., “the Escapees).
I am in the latter category, as are all of my brothers and sisters. We tried to at least get my mother into Category #1, but she is still stuck in a sub-section of that category know as Non-Movers/Half Floridians, i.e., “the Ossified.”)

Looking for a reversal on UUP around 22.95 or so (downtrend line). If we get it, you should begin nibbling at the worst hit of the above names.
If we blast over 23.04 or so, it’s “time to retrench” in the trenches.

I’m watching the same exact thing Jake on UUP and /DX. I’m wondering if this move the on daily MACD has enough gas to push it finally above the down trend line or will it roll over here and break thru the 76 line (DX) it found support on recently. I’m betting on rolling over for now…I’ve got a pretty good size position in many of those miners.

Newbie trader here, trying to focus my energies on the miners…Also subscribe to Gary Savage who you seem to like/follow as well. Have you checked out the blog BlueChip Bulldog? He(moo) used to post on Slope of Hope but then started his own. Moo is pretty big on the miners too and uses the RSI(7) tool to enter and exit trades with the miners. Daily MACD still has me a bit worried on the HUI and most miner charts I look at. To me, these all want to test lower trendlines (approx 366 on the HUI). Gary Savage has me convinced just to grab a position and hold on or risk missing a big bull move. Love to know your thoughts/methods on trading the miners. Sorry so long winded.

Sorry, just got back in from meetings and it looks like we did hit that 22.95 target on the UUP, and bounced off. The chart is certainly flirting w. disaster here, though, as every minute into the future that downtrend line gets nearer to our current position. It’ll be at 22.94 by the end of the day.
I am more of a long term accumulator in the precious metals and their miners… and am gradually increasing my portfolio exposure to the space as the bull unfolds. I don’t sell the major (Jacksonians) at all, save through option (call) sales, but I will sell some of the juniors when I see them getting stretched.
As for indicators, I find that MACD is the least helpful to me, with the slow stoch and RSI being the most helpful. Again, I look for oversold blowoffs and will announce them here when I see them, as I did with the SLW “over $13” sale call.
