What? You Want Another?

want crazy

_______________________

Really, I’m spoiling you.  It’s not going to be like this all the time, so pay attention.  A lot of these little smoking grenades are launching right now, but not all of them (cf. the BRD is a word, a bad word, like PHUCK!).  Don’t be afraid to bring up suggestions in the forum, but right now, I’m only recommending what I’m recommending because I feel good about what the chart looks like in a rising miner environment.

Take PZG as an example.  I haven’t talked a whole lot about it in a while, but I like it right now.  Here’s the weekly, finally breaking out of a medium term downtrend:

Now check out the daily.  See how it’s right against the breakout, much like BAA the other day?  That means your decision will be relatively easy tomorrow, right?

Just wait for it to break that upper triangle line.  If it does not… well, you’ve got some more time to wait, that’s all.  You can turn your attention back to the psycho silver market which is blowing up as we speak.  AGQ, SLW, AG, EXK, MVG, heck even CDE and PAAS and SSRI are fair game at this point.   Of course, SIL will obviate any decision making, much like GDX on the gold side.

Enjoy this time, my friends.

Face Your Fear

_______________________

Listen to me very quietly and carefully — You need to be on your toes at all time and keep a cool head like Jimmy Dean in a meat locker because half of what’s going on is designed to scare you into a blue paralysis that will render you immobile, and thus, malleable.

The market thinks you’re putty, see?  That’s why we’ve got guys begging off, folding their tent, going to cash, putting that roll in a coffee can and burying it on the back 40, right next to the bomb shelter packed with MRE’s.  They say “no mas!”

I say “oversold.”   I say that some of the wilier tells in the mining industry — like ANV and CDE, NG, MVG, BRD, and yes, even beaten down old XRA all jumped ahead 3.5 to 6.5% today.   What’s more, they all stayed up even after the selloff in the precious metals themselves (gold and silver) later in the day.

This is my signal to hold fast and watch the market closely.   I still think this debt deal quails the dollar, either by lack of confidence in the foreign markets or by dint of Bernanke printing press (Jackson Hole Conference right around the corner).

So I’ll continue to bide my time here, beer and NUGT‘s  in hand, and wait and see what spooky stories the market brings us tomorrow…

All the best to you, my fearless ones.

Is Gold Money?

I don’t usually get into these Ron Paul- Ben Bernank Shin Digs, But This One is Good

Did you make money today?  Good. If you did not, I would be pressed to question your Adderol dosage, and perhaps add 100 cc’s — STET!

There’s more to be made, of course, despite our flirtation with oversold levels.   Who knows, this kabuki theater bullscheiss on the debt ceiling might cause a drop off in overall market liquidity in the coming days and we might even get a nice pullback.

More’s the better, I say.

Gold broke to new highs today and so did DGP, which I was hoping to catch at lower levels.   I still grabbed a dollop yesterday, as announced on The PPT, at $50.75. We’re busting out:

Worried about silver?  I was too.  Not so much anymore, however.   I admit, I was a chicken shit, and re-weighted some stuff from silver names to gold.  Not that that was a terrible play, but silver did shoot the moon today, giving me the Chiggers of Chagrin as a reward.  Awful “bitey” those chiggers.   For example, as I announced on The PPT today, I dumped a bunch of AGQ yesterday to put into DGP and other golds.   How do the stock gods reward me?  By humbling me with a $20 move on AGQ today (up some 11%+).   Oy, that smarts.

But, aside from SIL, the silver miner ETF which you should own to capture the field, I really like the look of CDE here.  Sure, it’s a dog, but it’s known for taking advantage of PM rallies.   In this case, I think it’s got yards to run on the weekly, and will not only catch its old highs, but surpass them soon:

Good luck to you my friends.   Try to ignore the politicians.  They cannot defeat price.

Silver Load (sic)

otto

Otto’s Family Picture

________________________

Today was a significant day for the silver miners. With the death of Prince Otto, the word was sent by carrier pigeon to Mr. Bilderberg and the Illuminati that they could once again indulge in the precious metal trade.  Obviously they took that word to heart, especially in the silver section, with the more sedate Jacksonians like SLW and PAAS up 6.26% and 3.20% respectively, and the silver miner ETF– ticker symbol SIL— up 4.29%.

Even more stunning were the pocket rockets.  Of course the double raw silver ETF, AGQ, was up almost 10%, but some of the small miners did even better. My second largest silver holding  EXK, was up almost 12%, while AG and MVG were both up over 8% each.   Even ANV, the  mercurial Jacksonian gold stock, got in the groove, with a move of over 6.72%.

Even more promising was the chart damage today’s moves did on the silver bears.  AG is the cleanest example:

EXK had a similar breakout today:

I love how these rockets are leading us up like they usually do.  I am not, however “all in,” yet, as the $HUI continues to bedevil me by refusing to resolve itself.   The 50-day still remains a micro-hair above the 200-day EMA and they are flattening to a needle point.

My one consolation is that we’ve finally closed above both key EMA’s at $528.42.  That’s noteworthy, since we haven’t been above either one since early June.  Stay tuned tomorrow for some follow through.  I may even expend some cash.   I’m looking at EGO and CDE to continue moving higher tomorrow and to the end of the week.   My top pick for tomorrow, however, is GPL.

Tally ho!

Gettin’ Silver Highs

BillyonCoke
_______________________

Listen up kids, I don’t do drugs.

No, really.

No, I get high on… silver highs.   New one’s especially.  ‘Fact, I might even OD on breaking all-time highs, but I am doing wind sprints and having my sons jump out of random closets at me “Cato-Clouseau-style” in order to get my adrenaline glands in good condition for the eventuality.

Cause I’m pretty sure it’s coming.   Tonight we have new 31-year highs at $33.12, which is making me very happy.  Mind you I started buying physical silver at about $4.50 an ounce, and have never sold any of it.  That’s over 630% since 2002.  I wish I could say the same for my silver stocks, which I’ve traded perhaps with over-zealous vigour (sic).  In truth, they’ve been even more volatile than the commodity price itself.

My favorite silver play continues to be the royalty play Silver Wheaton — SLW— which does not dirty its fingernails with crude dirt-scratching but instead secures royalty payment in silver at a certain price in exchange for financing miners.   Would you screech out loud if I told you that SLW had arranged to be paid in silver at the equivalent of less than $5.00 an ounce?   That’s like taking a time machine back to 2002 and rifling the unsuspecting corner numismatic storedfront for less than appreciated 100 oz. ingots, only to return to February 2011 and have them assayed for over $33… and counting.

Can you see why I’m so excited about royalty plays?  They are, in fact, leverage for the leveraged price of the precious metal, as that is what the miners do — they allow one leverage on an increasing precious metal price.  The royalty play is one step higher up the chain of amped return.  Is there risk of default and other mining related problems?  Of course, but like a bank, a diversified portfolio will absorb some of that volatility.

Remember this SLW  chart from a couple of weeks ago?   The two arrows are the places where I’ve made recent buys.  We’re still not back to our old December highs, but I think we’ll be there, maybe as soon as this week.

Royal Gold — RGLD — is another royalty play, this time on the gold side, and with an even more diversified portfolio than SLW.   That’s another Jacksonian you want to own.

I also like EXK, AGQ (be careful with this one), PAAS, MVG, SVM, AG, CDE (small), and SSRI.  Another great catch all for all of these (or most) is SIL, the silver miner ETF.

For gold, the old standards, ANV, EGO, RGLD, IAG, GDX, GDXJ, NGD  are recommended, and newcomers IVN and AAU to taste.  I continue to believe also that the rare earth metals will resume their volatile climbs, and I like AVL and QSURD best.

Nothing going on in the U.S. stock markets tomorrow, but the precious metal, U.S. dollar and futures markets should be fun.  Ciao for now.

Prometheus Unbound

Prometheus Rock Center

And Just the Right Colour (sic), Too!

____________________________________________

It certainly feels good to stretch one’s wings once again, especially after a period of soreness and chafing, when the gold and silver markets pulled back in feeble, milquetoast fashion, rendering my hedges dull and feckless, and largely a waste of my time.   Luckily, I exited the remainder of my precious metal hedges today, and for the most part in the plus column (while my short ETF hedges were not), and the whole unpleasantness was avoided save for a more optimum re-entry price on a few select names.

As I previously stated, the dollar and the Amex Gold Bug Index ($HUI) were my guide in re-entering this morning, and the $HUI preceded the dollar in breaking that “roof” at $535 that has been plaguing us for the best part of a week.  I think today’s strong candle — on volume not evident in this chart, but in the individual names — gives we longer term players the assurance we need to be back in for the final ramp into Spring:

Note that upon the strong break this morning, I piled into AGQ with the gusto of a small ravenous narwhale amongst the migratory squid, immediately purchasing my first allocation (about one half of my expected total) without a limit order.  When things are breaking out like this, you always want to make sure you at least wet your beak so that you are not left behind in a tidal surge.   I also put in limit orders at this morning’s gap — and they never came close to being filled all day.   Tomorrow I shall try again for my fills there.

As planned, apres this break,  I also added to my considerable hordes in EXK, SLW, SIL and NGD.   As early as tomorrow I expect something of a pullback, but I will be adding at each opportunity.   Next in line is PAAS, AG, MVG and perhaps even CDE and HL.   I shall be as a fat suckling pig in a candy shoppe.   And no, I will not forget Prometheus’s gold — EGO, ANV and IAG will be added to as well, perhaps with IVN and AAU.

Scratch that, I just looked at the charts.  I will definitely be adding some AAU tomorrow.

Cheerio! Wot?  Your friend, Happy Jake.
