Goin’ To California

(Another take on Kanye)

Yeah, I’m goin’ tah California, gonna get mahself a beah.

More likely a nice Plumpjack Estate or better yet, Rafanelli Cabernet Sauvignon in beautiful Healdsburg.  I’ve got an early morning flight for a big celebration for a special lady, who in a lot of ways resembles Madame in the above clip, though she is not from Joisey, but rather Queens, originally.

Truth is, Madame above is from Brooklyn, originally (if you watch her other clips, you’ll learn more) so it’s all six of one half dozen of the other in my assay.  Essentially, almost all of humanity is originally from Brooklyn, at least in these here United States.   It’s like “Out of Africa” via the Piltdown Man, save in this case, it’s out of Flatbush via GTO.

While the dollar is figuring out what it wants to do, I will be jetting West for a long weekend of sybaritic repose, tennis and vin rouge guzzling by the stainless steel vatful.

Maybe I’ll skip the tennis.

I will try to check in as much as possible, but you can see how nonchalant I’ve become.   That happens when your positions are hundreds of percent in the black.  I suggest you try it and stop screwing around trying to scalp a dime here, and a half buck there.

Yesterday’s pickup of EXK was fruitful in the extreme.  I would be cautious here as we are due a dollar bounce in the $77 area.   I don’t expect it to be a particularly exhubrant or winning bounce.   More like a semi-spongeous deceased feline, if you know what I mean.

Rome is burning my friends.   Let us raise a glass to a New Republic, someday, with hope in our hearts.    In the meantime, make sure all your denari are .9999 fine grade gold first.

Best to you all.

Sideways was actually in Santa Barbera with that vile pinot noir.

I am going to the terroir of the gods, Napa and Sonoma.

      Cool pic, though.

Be careful, California was not good for another unnamed blogger here. Kinda got him off his game a bit.

I meant “keep it loose” ala Paul Giamati after his travel buddy got him to loosen his tie and enjoy himself but not to go San Fran nutz on the grape juice and dope ala Moby Grape ….

8:05 was the big hit for Moby Grape who could have been a band for the ages but blew it … “8:05, I guess you’re leaving … Goodbye!”

I would have thought you would like Pinot. Santa Barbara isn’t great wine spot. Let me know if you ever decide to go Lewis & Clark on the Oregon Trail in search of great wine. Watch out for dysentery when fjording the river.

Have a great trip. If you have time in SF check out the Ferry terminal on the Embarcadero. It’s like Reading Terminal in Philly, but more sit down restaurants.

Yes, travel safe, and be careful on those roads. They have mountains out there.

That old broad is a riot – “Cut your hair and get a job.” Sounds familiar.

    Prepare for my arrival.

    Enjoy the trip Jake.
DMG comments and the video reminds me when I was sharing an apartment with Ron (may he rest in peace) in Gainesville at UF in the early ’70s.
Hare Krishna came to the door passing out their pamphlets and Ron slammed the door in their face and yelled at them “get a job, get a haircut (the heads are shaved with a small ponytail).”

Healdsburg is beautiful in the extreme right now, Jake. Maybe a little cloudy on Saturday a.m., but otherwise niiice. Don’t know if you made those reservations at The French Laundry, but I hear good things about Keller’s Bouchon and even better about Ad Hoc. We like to go up to Meadowood this time of year and their restaurant is really great. For lunch, you might like to sit outside at St. Helena’s Tre Vigne. Michael Chiarello hasn’t been there in many years, but the Eye-talyen is still pretty good and their patio is hard to beat. Depending on where you find yourself in the afternoon, the patio of the very decent restaurant at Auberge du Soleil overlooks the Opus One winery and many acres of vineyards.

Speaking of Opus One, it’s probably my fave winery to tour. The cellar is a James Bond villain lair. But I think they get something like $40 for the tour now. You already know their stuff is overpriced, but a pretty liberal (pardon the expression) tasting ends the tour, and I’m quite certain you will recoup your tour investment there, if not cause them to restate earnings for the quarter after a few jereboams-worth of product research.

Also, I’ve arranged a performance by the Blue Angels to welcome you out our way. Sorry, they won’t be strafing San Fran and Berkeley with live ordnance, but you may still enjoy the shows Saturday and Sunday afternoons if you can make your way as far south as the Marin Headlands overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge or over to Tiburon on the patio of either Sam’s or Guayamas restaurants. I think you’ll be able to see from these spots. I fear traffic into and out of SF for the show would be enough to ruin your weekend if not leave you with a permanent case of Tourette’s.

Have a great time and next time out, let’s hoist a few!

You will laugh about these complaints when its at $200.

I remember bitching about it having trouble breaking $10.

The smartest trader (worth centimillions now) I know is in this stock as his largest position… by far.

Also, wondered about your thoughts on platinum, e.g., PPLY or AGPPY.
