Sorry for the Tardiness

tardy

I’ve been out all day, and I just realized I never even put down yesterday’s Jackson Portfolio display.   Must have been a cognitive dissonance thing, as the portfolio was down a little more than 1.5% yesterday (with cash, which the intraday changes don’t incorporate).

Anyway, I figured I’d make it up to you by including this somewhat pedantic, yet useful “tardiness” tip sheet I cadged from “CommunicateInnovate.com” — in itself a useful site.   I also left off the comments from yesterday, since the rebound kind of makes them useless.    Looks like both gold and silver are staying within the range, and Mr. Anderson continues his winning ways… Onto the “tips” —

Bottom line: Whether it is a thrill or habit, there are steps you can take to reduce and eliminate your chronic tardiness problem. How do you respect and effectively utilize the universally shared commodity of time?

Balancing your time with those around you is an ongoing challenge. Be vigilant about effectively using your time and anyone sharing your time. Your calendar, your day timer (or PDA) and the clock are intrinsic tools of the business trade. Learn to tell time, use timers and challenge yourself to get there on time. There are mental mind-sets and effective meeting processes that can help you kick the tardiness problem (they helped me). Consider your scheduled meeting times as just a center point of your overall meeting time. It is usually the informal meetings or contact before and after the formal session where most of the business or decisions are solidified.

Always allow time for this informal contact:

1) Allow yourself 15 minutes before each scheduled meeting or event to: – get your thoughts or agenda together at the location for the meeting – have a quick meeting with the main person to review the agenda – chat with the person who is setting up the meeting room to get information on the attendees. Executive Assistants and Administrative Assistants can be an invaluable source of information. Build trust with this individual. – socialize and introduce yourself to the attendees prior to the formal meeting. You are likely to pick-up on the temperament of key individuals attending your meeting.

2) Allow 15 minutes after each scheduled meeting or event to: – review how effective the meeting was perceived by your key customer (coach) or by an attending colleague. – Take time with the key person (key influencer) to review the outcome of the meeting and strategize next steps – Test the water and ask for the business. You might actually get the order. Alllow time for that too

3) Give yourself the 15/15 minute buffer before and after each scheduled meeting to allow for unexpected things. Plus you will less likely impact on subsequent meeting times. Early is always better than late.

Arriving on-time is the most visible sign of disrespect toward the other people involved. For first time meetings, being on-time is one of the major positive impacts on ‘first and lasting impressions’. Add to your good reputation – be on-time. Including this “15/15 Time Wrapper” around each of your scheduled appointments and meetings will afford you more time to prepare/strategize (before)and then assess/close(afterwards). Reduce stress on both yourself and those around you. Your respect for other people’s time is a measure of your own self-respect. Being respectful is an honorable trait – a trait that can only add to your glowing reputation.

WTF?? “only” a 5.2% markup? When I was buying the bulk of my physical silver — back in 2001 — at around 4.50 an oz… the markup was about a dime.

Between Jake’s picture and mrkcbill’s avatar I decided to go out and get a slab of baby back ribs for grilling over the weekend.
Now I have to decide on either a dry rub or have them wet (or maybe half and half).

“MON will feed the world one day,” You are so wrong JakeGint (as/per the Urban Dictionary), they have already been feeding the world for years, massive amounts of ‘fertilizer’. Kind of like you.

Say, you never answered the question I asked the other day about the origin of your ‘well beyond goofy’ moniker: Which of these definitions did you have in mind when you chose to add the Gint (as/per the Urban Dictionary), after your name? Personally, I like number 8 the best, it suits very closely the imagery I have of you as I shred your tiresome, boorish, and otherwise unsubstantiated suppositions of misinformation.

Although late to the table, I can’t help but verbally assault this person, Goin’Fawr.

In case you didn’t notice, there were at least ten separate definitions alone, of Gint, on that first page, mostly unrelated except in being insults. The reason for this is simple. People who use urban slang have no concept of the english language, men who give credence to slang in day to day conversation are borderline retarded, and only a complete jackass would ever take the time to source the “urban dictionary”.

That’s like sourcing CrooksandLiars.com for news. Or CrooksandLiars.com sourcing the Daily Show for news. Far past nonsensical, it’s just plain fucking stupid. Since anyone can add words, for all we know, you added half those definitions of Gint yourself; namely the reference to a child being a product of rape.

So unless you have something useful to add that doesn’t sound like the mindless ramblings of an Obama campaign rally, written in words that can be found in a real dictionary, please, fuck off.

There is also a gap at $12.98, which we may hit either late today or tomorrow, which is why I am keeping my second 1k “dry” ovah heah.

Mr. Thaler. Hehe, you call that an ‘assault’, you pedantic puff adder? I’ve seen better vitriol spewed from JakeGint, and that’s saying something. Merely oblivious you may be, sir, if not morbidly obtuse: I clearly stated that my preferred definition (as/per the Urban Dictionary) for ‘Gint’ was No.8: “mucas streaming down from ones nose and covering entire frontal lobe.” Not your favourite, which apparently is No.1. Your derision concerning the ‘use of slang’ must be, if you are to be completely fair, directed at practically all who post on IBANKCOIN, JakeGint included. So, in effect, your lame attempt at verbal ‘assault’, weak though it was, has actually intended to offend, well, everyone. Relax, I am absolutely certain you were wholly unsuccessful. And, FTR, I never once gave stated credence to the definitions provided by the Urban Dictionary, I merely inquired if JakeGint had employed them in choosing his moniker, and if he had, which one he had used. For all I know, JakeGint chose that name because he wants to be identified with the first Ferengi Grand Nagus, which, I am sorry, I would still find awfully ‘goofy’.
It’s certainly gratifying to see someone as grammatically correct and holy as you still ends up resorting to expletives, lol.
I believe the urban dictionary might contain a certain ‘slang’ word I have seen often here that pertains directly to you Mr.Cain Thaler. (It has an image too, so now I have an idea of what you look like.)

No, Goin’Fawr, the first reference you made to that idiotic site was two of Jake’s posts ago, in which you clearly drew irony between the Duke news article and the supposed irony of Jake’s moniker. Do not try to squirm away from criticism; I have been observing you for some time.

Jake, you seem to consider yourself an “all-being master of time, space, and dimension”, perhaps you can refute this:

“Andrew Jackson, founder of the modern Democratic Party and greatest Indian killer of all American Presidents, urged United States troops “…to root out from their ‘dens’ and kill Indian women and their ‘whelps'” (Stannard, p. 240). Jackson was so effective at rooting women and “whelps” from their “dens,” he adopted the habit of cutting off his victims’ noses as trophies to commemorate his exploits. He earned the name “Sharp Knife” from Creek Indians for his penchant for skinning victims and using the cured and braided tissue as reins for his ponies (Takaki, 1994).

This guy is your hero? And you had the gall to give me a hassle for quoting Tommy Douglas, because he wrote a paper on ‘Eugenics’? (Which, you failed to note, he disavowed after a visit to Germany, and it was never a policy in the Province where he served as Premier, even though it WAS adopted and practiced over a good portion of NA, much to his dismay, I am sure.)

“Courage, my friend, it is not too late to make the world a better place”
I’ll take that over a twisted murderer anyday, but that is just my choice, I suppose.

The only reason I brought this up, though, is because Mr. Gint here was all for plastering a Duke U employee’s alledged pedophilia on the mainstream news, while, ironically, incessantly touting the ‘virutes’ of a man (Jackson) who routinely encouraged the murder of women and children. Personally, I find both sets of actions entirely reprehensible, but I am at least willing to forgo judging the Duke U employee until historical fact exonerates or condemns him. The paradox of Jake makes me ill. I wonder, IF Jackson had been a gay man, would that change Jake’s opinion of him? If I was a betting man, I’d give five to one odds on the answer to that one.

As to the criticisms of Jackson, it is perfectly reasonable to admire select traits of individuals while finding others contemptable. I would expect if this were an argument in politics, we would frequently refer to the writings of Hitler, a brilliant political strategist who’s compaign methodology is still used today by all but all public officials.

Take yourself, as another example. You seem to be in possession of a developed and, at times, eloquent writing style. Your ideas, on the other hand, are utter rubbish.

“As to the criticisms of Jackson, it is perfectly reasonable to admire select traits of individuals while finding others contemptable” Hunh? So by your line of reasoning if this Duke employee is actually found guilty of putting up his adopted kid for molestation he’s worthy of accolades as long as he has some ‘select traits’ that you ‘admire’? Yah, I’m having to think a ‘no’ on that one.

Thanks for the barbed compliment on the quality of my rhetoric, but all blandishment aside, I think the fallacy you have attempted to legitimize indicates exactly who has the rubbish ideas here Mr.THaler.

As for the Hitler reference… Are you implying that what Jackson was involved with was some sort of genocide? My understanding is it was just ‘Manifest Destiny’, and the Louisiana Purchase was just an appropriation of lands largely unoccupied (except for those that Jackson and his ilk considered ‘subhuman’, I suppose. Ahhh, so that’s where you were going with that.) Oop, I better watch it , if you make any comparisons to what happened in Germany in WWII and something Jake likes, regardless of the cognates, he will whine that you are invoking Godwin’s Law. HA! Beatcha to it!

Typical Gintian response: Succinct, and beside the point (ad hominem ad nauseum, hey he even threw in Godwin’s Law for a good measure of glaring hypocrisy, god love ‘im). He knows even the most cursory glance at history will illustrate that Mr.Douglas murdered no one, in fact, his health care policies have probably ended up saving thousands, if not millions of lives. Andrew Jackson’s claim to fame…. well, y’know: bridles composed of human skin, CHILDREN’S skin. But of course Jake knows all this, he just doesn’t care, he just hates, like all the loony ‘make believers’.

I don’t hate Palin. I think she’s shockingly unqualified to be a governor (like Arnie here; or Franken as a Senator) and even less qualified to be (vice-)president. But there’s no hate.

That being said, her sudden resignation is just strange. I just think her stated reasons are bogus and there is something bigger behind it. Seriously, has any other governor ever quit with a year and a half to go (for no apparent reason)? You see out the job and your commitment, regardless of whether you’re going to run for another term.

I’m not going to disagree that her resignation is suspicious.

I’ve never found the woman particularly interesting and she was astoundingly annoying to listen to. However, the level of hatred that leftist movements and the press summoned for her, immediately after her vetting, is quite disturbing.

Seeing as it has yet to subside this long after the McCain campaign losing, I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, even though I will quite likely be proven wrong. That is the price such obvious bias affords ones enemies.

I read somewhere Ms.Palin was just trying to do what all honourable politicians do: save the taxpayer’s money. So, as a ‘lame duck’ governor, rather than just sit in a chair and collect your money she opted to let someone else step in, and perhaps make a name for themselves in the eyes of the plutocrats before the next election.
Say, why is it that the US won’t allow more than two consecutive terms to be run by a politician anyway? I mean if the people really like someone, in a democracy shouldn’t they have the right to get that person as their leader? I know the argument that terms of service are limited to avoid any one elected official ‘gaining too much power’, which seems reasonable, though the time span to ‘make changes’ ends up being too restrictive (IMHO). Which is why with private corps. a CEO’s term of service is unlimited, so they can make the necessary changes to create a successful business, and reap the long term rewards if they do succeed (or even if they don’t, depending on how close the business is linked to the plutocrats who have the politicians all stuffed in their pockets). This suggests that term limits force political candidates to focus on short term solutions when campaigning,no? Not all problems in the realm of a politician can be fixed in 6 years or so….But getting back to the ‘too much power’ argument with regards for some of the larger capitalist organisations, would this term limit thing for CEO’s not also be a good idea to reduce corruption in a business too?

I look forward to your insight.
