Wow, my workstation totally fried.  Thankfully you can buy hard drive enclosures to save your data; so I basically spent two whole days recovering data and stripping two computers to the bone.  I didn’t realize that my life was embedded into a small box.  I felt all kinds of emotions when I couldn’t revive the machine- hate, sadness, regret, denial.  Haha, what a douche.  By the way, as a little tip for you people, if you’re in the market to buy a computer (PC), now is the time to get one.  Now that Intel released there i-family chips, the core 2-duos and quad-cores are ridiculously cheap.  I ordered one on Dell with a 24″ monitor for about 700.  In the meantime, I’m builing my own super-computer using the chasis of the one that broke.  Haha, what a nerd.  Anyone can recommend a video card?

Anyway, market moving up in some choppy trading.  But what scares me about being short this market is that a lot of leadership stocks are looking strong.  I did a quick scan on the IBD 100 (throwing out about 40 of their crappy stocks), and found some great intra-day moves in stocks like RVBD, TPX, and BIDU.  I like RVBD, detest TPX.

BIDU has been kicking butt again, which makes one of our favorite sectors to trade alive again.  That would be China online.  Keep watching those momentum magnets:  SOHU, FMCN, SNDA, SINA, NTES.

Thanks Gio, I’ve been enjoying your posts more and more and appreciate your perspective. You have a solid grasp on momo and I’ve been following your picks for the last 4 mos or so.

As to your new superbad computer, I would suggest first a solid power supply. But since you asked about the vid card, Nvidia has the new GF100 coming out soon. Do you know if you want to go SLI?
About those power supplies: PC Power & Cooling makes the best, and dependent on everything you plan on having in your beast, you could need between 400 and 1000 watts. One of the main things that has made their power supplies the industry best is their constant supply, rather than peak wattage, especially on the 12v rail. As the chips have moved to dual/quad cores, they have also tried to reduce power consumption. Add in a high end video card, multiple hard drives and several fans for air flow and you end up needing more than any typical stock power supply can provide. Like a car battery, power supplies can also be judged on their weight, i.e. the heavier the better. Keep in mind that a decent rig, if air cooled, will be quite loud.
To keep things running at their optimal output, you should also consider an aftermarket chipset cooler, and even possibly one for the northbridge and for the memory.
Since we’re on the subject of memory, make sure you get RAM that is synced with your FSB and has the lowest latency numbers you can afford. RAM running faster then your FSB will cost you more and not provide a substantial improvement like low latency RAM can.
Lastly, if you are looking for speed, look at having a solid state drive that your main OS would reside on. This will give you the most blistering speed possible.

i’ve always enjoyed your picks. I already had rvbd and played it a couple days ago. PKI and MKSI have the same-ish patterns.
