3 Reasons to Believe the Country is Wakening to the Federal Tyranny

I have a glimmer of hope that the people of this country are waking up to the tyranny of the U.S. federal government. Obamacare contraception mandates have woken the 70 million Catholics along with millions of other Christians. The NDAA has stirred many state legislatures into action to stop federal over-reach. Even the FAA funding bill has passed the Senate with a measure to allow airports to replace the TSA gropers and thieves.

Freedom of Religion

It’s nice to see Catholics waking up after their implicit support of Obama in 2008. Tea Partiers and constitutionalists tried to get them to wake up when Obamacare was being debated and ultimately passed. Better late than never.

States Defending the Constitution

And of course the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) codified indefinite detention of U.S. citizens. Hell, even the ACLU says as much. Bad legislation makes for strange bed fellows I suppose.

Well thankfully the states are defending the constitution. Tenth Amendment Center reports that Virginia was the first out of the gate last week with House Bill 1160.

TSA Days of Groping and Thieving Could Be Over

I was also happy to see that embedded in the latest FAA funding bill was a provision that would force the TSA to reconsider applications from airports to replace TSA workers with their own privately hired screeners.

No, the TSA wouldn’t be disbanded which would be the optimal solution, but at least going through airport security you wouldn’t have to worry about sexual misconduct and theft of your possessions.

Jackboot Thugs Replacing Peace Officers in Our Communities

The people of this country (U.S.) are losing control of its government. Other countries around the world are not so lucky to have a government “for the people and by the people”. Used to be that meant something. It really hasn’t meant shit since 1860. But now ever more so.

There is so much about the governments in this country from local to state to federal that concerns me. Unfortunately I am becoming more and more concerned about cops. Used to be you could count on “peace officers” . Frankly I am afraid of the local, state and federal gestapos. And that is without the TSA fuckers getting involved. The whole country is becoming a fucking military-style police state right before our eyes. Just take a look at the jack-booted thugs keeping the asshats among the Occupiers in line. Some cities have their own armored personnel carriers.

Because the military cannot patrol our country, and if they could I believe they would do it, they rely on an ever increasing local military presence. Small towns with SWAT teams. TSA teaming up with local law enforcement. What the fuck is all this about? Do you feel safer? I bet this guy who got his head kicked in by these NM shithead cops doesn’t:

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Two Albuquerque police officers were fired Wednesday following the release of unedited video that showed them apparently doing a celebratory belly bump after one officer kicked a suspect in the head more than a dozen times.

Officers John Doyle and Robert Woolever both were issued termination letters, a police department statement said.

Tea Party and Occupiers Should Come Together Against Establishment

I’ve been thinking about the “Occupy” movement and the Tea Party. I’ve been giving some thought to the corrupt Democrat and GOP party.

I’m not sure if people are seeing the potential for historical relevance that the Tea Party and Occupy movements are having on the political discord in this country.

As crazy as it sounds I think it is conceivable that the Tea Party and Occupy movements will one day merge into something far bigger than the establishments want to admit.

I think that is why the GOP was quick to subvert the Tea Party and is why the Democrats have quickly embraced the Occupiers.

The “establishment” Dems and GOP are not that different. They want the status quo. Spending on wars and military and entitlements.

At the core, the Tea Party nor the Occupiers want this. I think the average Occupier want the government out of their lives just as much as the Tea Partiers.

It may appear that the Occupiers want more government but I’m beginning to believe that is just media bias. The media, big business and big government all seem to want the same thing: status quo.

They are also extremely scared of the changes that could happen if the Tea Party and Occupiers are not folded into the establishment tents.

Want to see the establishment completely shit themselves? Have the movements come together for an accord.

Watching the World Burn From My Comfy Chair

Everybody got a comfy seat to watch the collapse of the system? It should be a good one. The Euro-Socialists have blown their wad on Greece – the lesser of all the impending economic collapses. Next up – Italy. A country too big to fail and too big to save. Sort of like California here in the States.

Unless the West stops spending, right now, virtually every single country is going to default. There is no way the United States can ever honor 15 trillion in debts. Plus the entitlements of course. No way. Unless there are massive cuts and government shrinks. And this will never happen no matter what asshole occupies the big chair in the White House. Too many special interests want government cheese. Politicians will never cede power. Too many dependent on government welfare.

The United States government is demonstrating its massive stupidity in putting their latest hopes and dreams on the so-called Super Committee. 6 GOP and 6 liberal asshats are supposed to make a decision where the Congress didn’t have the balls or intelligence to make. So what happens? More gridlock. Just in a smaller group. Shocking.

The “Occupy” movement is showing the world what Democracy looks like. It’s why this country used to be a functioning Republic. Democracy sucks. Loving the violence from the Occupiers though.

No Way Gold is Close to a Bubble

Eva Longoria is gorgeous. She and the writers on AOLTV are also financially ignorant. Seems Ms. Longoria took a trip to Dubai where ATMs dispense gold bars. Pretty cool way of adding to your hoard. I don’t know if the premium is high out of a vending machine or not but still, think about the convenience of not having to go down to the local gold pimp or buy from an online dealer. Just stick your credit card in the slot and get a little slab of gold.

Anyway Longoria was relating the story of Dubai and gold dispensing ATMs on the late night crapfest of Jimmy Kimmel. From AOLTV.com:

Fallon held up a picture of Longoria standing next to a “Gold to Go” ATM. As she explained, “This ATM, you put money in, and it gives you a gold bar.”

She was going to give it a whirl and take out her own gold bar but changed her mind when she discovered it would cost a whopping $2,000. That’s a lot of chump change for what’s basically a souvenir.

Two months ago the gold exterminators were happily stomping on bugs saying the metal was in a bubble. I submit to you that even an actress would understand the value of gold if it was in a bubble. Remember all the idiot celebrities talking about their stocks during the dotcom debacle?

The comment from the writer though is priceless: “That’s a lot of chump change for what’s basically a souvenir.”

Like a bar of gold is simply a souvenir. I’ll leave it to you, dear reader, to decide what a bar of gold – a souvenir – will be worth next year, or the next, but I’ve put my money were my font is and figure it won’t still be worth $2,000.

Thanks for reading.

Sustaining Debt While Delaying the Inevitable

“Debt is now sustainable.” If there was any statement that would make me pause in a financial sense that would be at the top of the list. For the second time Greece is getting a bailout. 1.4 trillion dollars are being spent to essentially bail out the EU. Does anyone really think this will solve the problems?

Sure, banks and markets get a tasty reprieve. Like the money printing packages in the States I fully expect the markets to go up with this massive amount of cash infusion. As I type this crap, the DOW is up 246 points.

I like to think I am an opportunist. I am wholly bearish on the economy as long as the governments of the world continue to meddle with it. But I will be happy to ride along with the cronies as they get bailed out by the government. Crude is up 3% on the news which makes me happy to be an investor in SLB, HAL and BHI. GDP is inexplicably up 2.5% which makes me happy to be invested in consumer related shit. People can only save money for so long before it starts to burn a hole in their pocket.

Look, I really have little technical understanding about the Euro debt deal. Some banks are saved. Money nobody has is spent. Currency races to the bottom. Cans get kicked down the road. The stock market goes up. And eventually the governments default and collapse anyway.

The bears are going to be crushed again. As long as the stock monkeys believe that the government will protect their market then you have to be a player. There is absolutely no way the central planners are going to let these markets crash. One day they will but not today.

I doubt you would find anyone but the most ardent socialist believing that this Greece bailout will ultimately work. Everyone is happy that the collapse is averted and won’t happen today but the eventuality is that the EU is dead. And when that happens I sure would hate to be a French or German leader. I have a feeling many heads are going to be split on a pike one day.

A driver was stuck in a traffic jam on the highway outside Washington, DC. Nothing was moving. Suddenly, a man knocks on the window.

The driver rolls down the window and asks, “What’s going on?”

“Terrorists have kidnapped Congress, and they’re asking for a $100 million dollar ransom. Otherwise, they are going to douse them all in gasoline and set them on fire. We are going from car to car, collecting donations.”

“How much is everyone giving, on average?” the driver asks.

The man replies, “Roughly a gallon.”

When is 1% Not 1%?

You are the 1% if you are not liberal apparently. Michael Moore was on CNN and he was surprisingly grilled by Piers Morgan about whether or not he was in the 1%. It went down like this:

Morgan: You’re in the one percent, right?

Moore: I’m not in the one percent, no. But I am–

Morgan: Probably .2 percent?

Moore: No, I am not.

Morgan: You’re one of the most successful film makers in the country.

Moore: No, I am not. For a documnetary film maker, I do very well.

Morgan: Well, now you’re splitting hairs.

Moore: There’s a big difference between a documentary and Avatar.

[…]

Morgan: I need you to admit the bleeding obvious. I need you to sit here and say, ‘I’m in the one percent.’

Moore: Well I can’t, because I’m not.

Morgan: You are though.

Moore: No, I’m not.

Morgan: You’re not in the one percent?

Moore: Of course I’m not! How can I be in the one percent?

Morgan: Because you’re worth millions.

Moore: No that’s not true. Listen, I do really well. I do well. But what’s the point, though?

Morgan: The point is because I find it more interesting if you’re in the one percent, because I think you probably are you qualify, that you are railing against a lot of capitalist ideals.

The plus-sized man is reportedly worth $50 million.

The hypocrisy is rather interesting from the OWS movement. The kids all say they are railing against capitalism, I think, but they each sit around wearing designer distressed jeans Tweeting on their iPhone drinking a mocha from StarBucks. Asshats like Moore and Russell Simmons claim solidarity with the movement yet go home to their million dollar consumable goods. I guess like The Fly Tweeted it is much easier to be socialist after you become rich.

The Blaze listed the top ten richest celebrities supporting the Occupy movement. You could rename the list the top 10 richest hypocrites.

For the 53% we simply choke on expanding government entitlements and power.

OWS and the Tea Party actually have some things in common. The difference is OWS believes that the economic system needs MORE government interference while the Tea Party wants LESS. But at the core both movements know something is terribly wrong. The problem is the government. The Tea Party is on target. The problem is crony capitalism. That much both movements can agree on. The problem is not Wall Street. The OWS is wrong. But again, the solution comes from two vastly different ideologies.

Anyway, I am tired of these rich Hollywood liberal types taking advantage of the capitalist system and actively seeking its demise after they got theirs. If they were honest libs, which is an oxy-moron, they would simply give their wealth straight to the Treasury coffers and live the best they could on less than 6 figures like the rest of us.

Finding My Way in an Upside Down World

A couple of you might know me from my rants as “South of the Mason Dixon” on Jake Gint’s blog. I enjoy The Senator’s musings and find a kinship with his particular leanings. This blog will continue the tone.

I spent too much time trying to come up with a title for this blog. I’m not creative that way. I chose Survive This because at this time in my life I am simply trying to survive. Survive what you ask?

I am not a Democrat, liberal, Islamist, socialist, Marxist, anarchist or communist. If you are not bent in those ideologies then the world feels like it is being destroyed. My country, the U.S., is being dismantled from the Republic that was formed by the brightest men that have ever tread this land. I like the freedoms and liberties that are provided in our Declaration of Independence from tyranny and the Constitution.

If you simply want to live free then you are in survival mode. Your hope is that you can “survive this”. Our government is under attack from within. All Presidents in the last 50 years govern as an executive tyrant. The judicial system is complicit in tearing down the Constitution. The legislature is a whore to special interests as a means to firm up their power.

I have little to nothing to offer financially. I do not trade stocks. I suck at it. I parrot the actions from the talent within The PPT. I don’t buy burritos. I don’t speculate. I buy good companies with growth or that pay me to be involved. I love resource companies because the world is growing and the poor want what the middle class have.

I buy and hold. I do have a point, usually 8%, where I will pull the plug and take the loss. I actually like investing in a company. I invest in things that make sense to me. SLB, BHI are stocks that I was buying on the way down. The U.S. may not want to drill and use oil but the rest of the world do not have that stupid-ass thinking.

I like dividend re-investing. I like accumulating shares of a stock like JnJ when it hit a yield around 3.5-4%. Same with PG or INTC. Companies that have little hope for growth but will spew copius amounts of cash. And generally are insulated from huge market downdrafts by a ripening yield.

I won’t get rich this way, but I sleep well and suspect I will retire comfortably.

Hopefully I will have something to offer on this blog that a few people will want to peruse. Thanks for reading.
