Nearly every desirable location that is market driven is expensive.
What is interesting, and a bit annoying to me, is that cheap places do not have to be bug/rat/crime/drug infested by definition. It is the people that make them that way. The majority of people who CHOOSE that lifestyle are not financially sccessful, the losers of life. But what to do if you are not engaged in those activites, yet you wish to live cheap? I commute nearly 40 miles each way.
