Welcome to Silverhalla!

Norse

________________________________

Come, lads, and feast at my table at long last.   Rest your weary bones in the comfort of my Great Hall–Silverhalla– for it is the hall built by the metal gods Au and Ag for heroes who have fought in the great shield wall of Hard Commoditus, that great preserver of Empires and succorer of innocent children and midwives.

Those who have taken up hauberk and helm, shield and scimitar against the armies of the Mad Kings — Inflatus and Deflatus — shall be rewarded this day with an eternity of riches and smooth mulled wines.   Those also who have fought against those fierce Kings’ Champion, Bern Yankee,  and his much feared Quantive Eeze Garrison, will be welcome in my Hall, here and in the hereafter.

True, it is gold that brings the wenches, and gold that has sated the hearts of  many the currency coveter.  But those who hie to my banner (featuring St. ElTee of the Blessed Rood)  will receive a far more useful reward in the Hall of my Fathers– the Great Hall of Silverhalla, aye.

Those lucky few, those sceptered Islanders, shall receive the Holy Stock Picks of Antioch, and be able to then hurl brickbats of bullion at thy enemies and thereby “snuffe them, in His Mercy.   For now is no time to loose one’s bladder in the shield wall, and cower at the hard paper truncheons of the Que Eeze… no!   Now is the time to strike!  And strike again for the promised marshall glories!

The glories of Silverhalla!   (Puts Silver horn to lips, blows four sharp blasts in succession….)

Behold!

Behold anew!

…and  Behold the next Great Warrior Chieftan of Silverhalla! (Still a mere boy, really)–

Now forth!  Forth for glory, and slay thine enemies and revel in the lamentations of their accountants!

Skol!

I wish I could find that Frank Frazetta poster of the naked huntress riding a silver polar bear to help your better illustrate your point here.

Of course, that could just have been a dream I had when I was 13…

Yes, I had some trouble finding the appropriate imagery out there… didn’t want it to be too “Conan” as the theme was Valhalla, which is indubitably Norse in character, while Conan is a more southern realm.

Not much out there for Valhalla, save for a bunch of goofy video game stuff.

Suggest searching “1970’s Van Images” next time.

That’s the Frazetta mother-lode of Nordic warrior images.

    Chancellor Jake,

I may add more on the next attack upon my kingdom of hard currency with a fervent prayer for a miraculous ride into Christmas, whilst I surround myself with brickbats of bullion and tubs of eggnog.

And if I may ask dear Chancellor, how high should the Empire’s treasures be taken with these brickbats as we expect the almost certain demise of the our King’s current system of barter.

Also, dear Chancellor one wonders, in accordance with the Duke’s (Beck) thesis, how and when to indulge our kingdom in wheat, barley, sugar and other staples?

I would say that $1400 on gold would be a pretty natural resting point, but I’m thinking the bounce off $74 is the more obvious target. Don’t be surprised if we overshoot both, however.

Dollar is bouncing pretty hard this morning on the “good” employment numbers, you should note.

Jaw dropping gains in my port lately. EXK GSS ANV FTK ONP all up big. Amazing gains, up 38% this year. PPT was a great investment. The only way out of this financial meltdown is to make as much as you can along the way.
      Hat tip, Jake.

Yeah, something about one of their mills being down for three weeks was the issue, I think. You just have to be well diversified w. these suckers, because they are very volatile. This one’s also got quite a bit of political risk, being on the shaky continent.

You should have a profit in it, if you want to shave some.

Damn, Keith Olbermann just got taken to task:

    http://www.businessinsider.com/keith-olbermann-suspended-indefinitely-without-pay-for-donating-to-candidates-2010-11?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+clusterstock+%28ClusterStock%29

I don’t know…I hate the man, but he should be free to pursue his endeavors. Maybe MSNBC should go the Fox route and, instead of pretending they are this superior outlet of neutrality and unbiased reporting, just man up and admit they’re human.

People’d trust them more, at any rate.

Well, he’s allegedly a journalist and they are supposed to have a modicum of impartiality, although we know this is not true of Olberdouche.

He signed the contract, he took the money, he gotta play by the rules. I think it was the schoolboy snickering on election night that finally did him in.

(laughter) true. But really, I would have fired that prick to the far left, (O’Something) before I dropped Olbermann. On election night, Olbermann was the least partisan of them, in my opinion. And he and Matthews at least had honest assessment about the left in between their silent insults for the right.

(Sigh) Please refer to my initial comment. I don’t have a problem with opinionated journalists, at all. My point is more that:

            1. MSNBC should own up to itself.
            2. There were better targets to be made example of.

Bruce, you’re really crying about Olbertoad?

The guy gives more than $2k with his political speech on a shitty network, so why should he be so stupid as to break rules and give dough to Conway?

Because he’s a nut, that’s why. Don’t waste the keystrokes.

Olberman is no more a nut than Hannity, Colter, Limbo, etc .. less so , imo .. even if he goes too far, as do the others. Maybe someone at his network wanted him out for some reason. FOX news doesn’t give a shit about their talking heads putting their monies where their mouths/political views are, why should MSNBC. It’s not like Olberman’s opiinions are objective journalism.

Bullshit Bruce. You are making that up. Olbertoad is a far more egregious nut than any of those on the Fox network.

I’m sure Hannity has to sign some sort of non-contribution codicil in his contract, as he is an employee of Fox News. Limbaugh owns his own network so he can do whatever he wants.

As I mentioned, however, two seconds of talking on a radio or tv network about a candidate is worth far more than the $2,400 limit that Olbertoad gave. He is just a grand mal headcase.

                Good riddance.

The dollar index is headed to 94, Jake. But, I clearly said the euro had to hit 1.40 this fall, before the dollar could start its rally. And that was back in late May. So your “panamaorange was short the dollar for 3 months thesis” is out the window.

I am at least 250 pips early. And i was at least 500 pips early on that huge euro call. Which is why i always scale in. But, I just had to set the record straight on that.

You’ve been boring us w. portents of the Iranians forcing the dollar through the roof through some subtrafuge or war or something.

I haven’t paid much attention to what you’ve been saying about the Euro, as I don’t really care about the Euro.

Well, that 1.40 number was critical. That is the “max pain” for the euro zone exporters and tourist industry. Now that we’ve hit it, the dollar can rally WITHOUT any major mideast event being needed.

The Iran thing has been a total wash so far. But, the tension around Israel is getting pretty severe lately.
Actually, if anything does happen, gold and the dollar will move up together. But, its just speculation until it happens. Like playing oil on hurricane predictions. That rarely ends too well.

If a war breaks out in the middle east, it won’t be against Israel. Israel has proven several times now that attacks against its borders will be met with unparalleled use of force. Even a nuclear Iran does not defeat a nuceal Israel.

More likely, two Muslim nations enter a bloody conflict, than the cliche Jew vs. Muslim outlook. Islamists treat each other just as poorly and it’s a more equal fight, than watching some broke ass, half starved muslims armed with weapons from the Soviet error getting mowed down by state of the art Israel.
