The Crackboys vs. the Boxer

Romo hammered

This is good…

This might be even better….

——————————————————————————————–

C’mon California!  The Giants have done the hard part and dispatched the Crackboys for you.   This leaves the NFL safe for Niner and Charger domination.   Who knows?  Even the Raiduhs are showing signs of life…

Now all you have to do is get rid of Barbara Boxer and reclaim one of the greatest states in the Union.

I know you can do it.  God speed.

If you were on The PPT today, you saw that I added a tonne of metal back to my portfolio.   AGQ, EXK, GSS, IVN, RGLD, and even FRG were all added at favorable prices.

I also got rid of the last of my hedges at a slight profit.

Last, I added to my PBR, my favorite long term earl play.   Yes it’s Brazilian, and someday it will be worth a Brazilian bucks to my family.

That is all.   Keep watching that dollar.   My best to you, especially those people in Kelly-Phonia, who can once again give direction to the U.S. with the right move here.

All for the Boxer Rebellion, but for the horrible alternative. “Lady and the Tiger” election desperately in search of a lady.

Nice NYG win tonight. That team is cruising into the post season.

Still very early yet… and Eli needs to get over the “stupid pass syndrome,” but I am encouraged by the re-awakening of the defensive line, which has now knocked five NFL QB’s out this season.

Reminds me of the mid-80’s Eagles defensive line headed up by Reggie White. They used to do that too.

As for the politics, I know Fiorina may be a bit “strong” for your typical Californian who hates to have his mellow harshed, but mein Gott people, how can you keep such a blithering embarrassment in power for SO long?

Literally, she is the definition of “DOH!”- like wince-making– a bravura combination of stupid and arrogant. Make her go, and start on the long road of clawing your way back.

        Jake,

Carly is not “strong.” She was a disaster at HP in every sense. Not liking Boxer, but not willing to replace one mistake with another. If GOP had pimped a better candidate, he or she would have won this time. And Fiorina may still.

And I will concede that this may be an example of democracy rendering the leadership we deserve. Both parties are beyond obsolete. Unfortunately, the would-be third party is one punch line and a bunch of jokers.

Until we can do it over a beer, I’m done talkin’ the politics here. It’s too depressing.

Oh, and your Giants’ defensive line looked like grown men playing mid-level Pop Warner kids. And they’re all healthy this late in the season, I think. Bodes well.

The Rangers are at least likeable, and I still remember watching Josh Hamilton jack them out of RiverBats park in the Lou when he was in his “rehab” days having a cuppa joe in Triple A.

      Nice story.

I can only think you are doing so out of selfish purposes, as her re-election will surely speed the demise of these United States.

      Surely, there’s no one worse.

Give me a break. She ran a Fortune 100 Company– I don’t care how incompetently– so she obviously had some qualifications behind her. Besides, Fiorina isn’t a socialist… and isn’t that what we’re really talking about here in the end?

What are Boxer’s qualifications? She’s the dumbest Senator extant, and worse, she’s hasn’t a clue about it. Worse, she’s the epitomy of failed Socialist Democrat policy. The team mascot, as it were.

Voting for Boxer… without much enthusiasm, I might add.

The fiscal demise of these United States, at least in the short term, is a given, regardless of who wins any given election. That cake was baked a while ago.

Long-term, however, I am very optimistic about America. I have to be: I have children. Someday, in the next three to five years, you will see me buying America with both hands.

In the meantime, if you can demonstrate to me that a vote for any Republican is a vote for fiscal responsibility, I will vote for them. Hell, I’ll campaign for them.

That means a candidate that openly campaigns on rolling back entitlements, means-testing Social Security, raising the retirement age, cutting defense spending, and restructuring the health care system in such a way that Medicare won’t completely bankrupt us within the decade.

No Republican (and certainly no Democrat) will campaign on that platform, because it’s guaranteed to lose. The American people want something for nothing, and their politicians, Republican and Democrat, are determined to give it to them, at our children’s expense.

The war we’re in isn’t between left and right — it’s between the young and the old. For decades, Democrats and Republicans have joined hands to redistribute wealth away from our children, who don’t vote, to “seniors” who do. The current effort to prop up housing and asset prices is just one more example of generational warfare waged against the young on behalf of the old.

Unfortunately, as I said, the fix is in. We will have a crisis regardless of who gets elected. I know you believe that as well, because I know how you’ve placed your bets. If you thought there was any real chance of a turnaround, you’d be a lot less bullish on the precious.

The gold bull was born under Republican rule. It cares not a whit who’s in office. It knows all politicians are exactly the same.

You’re joking, right? If the Republicans are bad, the Dems are 10x as bad. And there’s been a sea change, w. regard to the populations tolerance for unmitigated drunken spending.

It’s “out.’ And if the Republicans dont’ “get it” they’ll be out too. But in the primaries, not in the general, because the Dems have gone 100% McGovernite socialist, and that sure as hell isn’t the road to prosperity, but rather the road to serfdom.

You still haven’t made any case for the idiot — and I mean idiot — boxer. At least Fiorina has a 100+ IQ.

California, being as broke as it is, may want to consider trying out a new legislator for a change. Just a crazy thought…. What California needs it to cut taxes to promote a business friendly climate, to secure the border, and to cut excess spending. Agreed both parties are corrupt, but the Republicans are the lesser of the 2 evils at this point in time because they are starting to come back to their fiscally conservative roots thanks to the Tea Party. I myself would like to see more Libertarians being elected to office.

Nothing I’ve seen indicates that there’s much difference between the Republicans and Democrats, spending-wise. The Democrats give you Obamacare, the Republicans give you the Medicare prescription drug plan. Both are wasteful boondoggles. Both parties have a million of them.

I’m ready to flip, though, if I see the Republicans actually put their money where their mouth is. Raising the retirement age, for instance — both the “socialist” French and the Brits have the guts to publicly entertain that. Care to bet me that the Republicans don’t?

There’s been no “sea change” with regard to the population’s tolerance for unmitigated drunken spending as far as I can see. Americans still love spending — as long as the money’s spent on them. Stand up at a tea party rally and try to get the crowd to burn their Social Security and unemployment checks. See what happens.

As for the idiot Boxer, there’s no case for her. I see no difference in IQ between her and Fiorina. The only argument for voting for Boxer is on so-called “values” issues — abortion, separation of church and state, etc.

But as I said, I’ll flip in a heartbeat if I see the Republicans do something constructive. I am someone who should be voting Republican — I just don’t believe a word they say. Give me someone like David Cameron, who actually walks the walk instead of shouting slogans, and I might just vote for them.

Ill bet you. Rand Paul who is running in Kentucky said that we are going to have to raise the retirement age. And that is just common sense because it is mathematically impossible to sustain.

And the values issues are ridiculous. No one cares about abortion right now, they care about their jobs. Besides, one senator not going to be able to ban abortions.

For God’s sake, Fiorina went from the secretarial pool to the CEO’s office at a Fortune 100 company… do you really equate her with that dimbot Boxer??

California is currently in the process of legalizing weed on a state level. Given our current economic climate, legalizing weed seems like a ridiculous agenda, and is indicative of a degenerate society for sure.

It’s a bet. If the Republicans put together a serious proposal to scale back the growth of entitlements, including rolling back the retirement age, I will vote for them in 2012.

The question is: if they don’t do anything (and I’m betting they won’t) who are you going to vote for?

The values issues are real. Republicans vote on the basis of them. I’m a cultural libertarian, which means I don’t care to live in a theocracy. I don’t want the government to dictate to people what they can do with their personal lives. I’m offended when someone tells me I’m not patriotic because I don’t agree with them. Stuff like that. It matters.

There are lots of people like me — fiscally conservative and socially liberal — that have nowhere to go right now. Particularly in places like California and New York. They are the Republican party’s natural constituency — Eisenhower Republicans — but they are culturally alienated from the Republican party by all the angry culture-war rhetoric. This is why the states with the wealthiest taxpayers in America — California, New York, Connecticut — consistently swing Democratic, because the Republicans scare the sh*t out of us.

Ill probably vote for Ron Paul if he runs. Even if he doesn’t get the Republican nomination I will probably write him in. I figure if enough people do the same then eventually the politicians might get the message.

What about all the entitlements for the unions? The Dems don’t seems to want to cut back on entitlements for them. And there is a good reason, the unions give them money. Or what about entitlements for illegal aliens? Jerry Brown said one of the first things he is going to do once elected is to give illegals free education, etc…. How are any of these things going to help the economy? Its going to make it worse. I for one am offended because I had to take out loans to get through college, I didn’t have a government that was willing to pay for it. As of now I am worried less about social issues and more concerned about the collapse of the economy.

No, I just don’t think a Theocracy is an imminent danger. The imminent danger that I see is power. Which is why we need to limit the power of the federal government. Both Bush and Obama have expanded its power greatly.

In the meantime, the real issue is whom the real authoritarians, the real fascists are. Don’t tell me they are the fucking Right Wing Christians you assholes.

I live in Kentucky and I don’t have any fucking Kommisars coming to my house to tell me I can’t burn wood in my fireplace (Fairfax, Marin County, CA!) or that I have to put glass in the recycling bin or I get fined $250 bucks (Staten Island, NYC, NY!).

I don’t have Nurse Bloomberg outlawing “transfats” in my fine restaurant foods or taxing my salt or my sugar intake “for my own good.”

Don’t tell me about your false fears of “theocracy” assholes, you have been DUPED by the kommisars, and what’s even worse, you feel smug about it!

The big thing they’ve got you conned on is abortion. Well guess what? It’s actually killing a child. You’re cool with that, yet you feel sympathy for the ELF people who will burn a freaking building down in order to stop the killing of bunny rabbits?

I agree, this was a good thread.

                      My view-
Collectively, American voters do not love their children.
If we did, we would not be leaving them this mess.

Through our elected officials, Americans have shown that we are not willing to suffer for just five years, to make a much better world for the next generation.

Specifically, we are not electing people who are willing to go down in flames for future generations.

After the Jacobs TD I thought they should just turn and hand it off to him for the rest of the game, mixing in a little Bradshaw and short 3rd down passing if needed. Then I remembered that Mike Martz Lite is running the offense and Eli would be back out there carelessly slinging it around up by 18 in the 4th quarter. That game should have been 41-10.

Jake: do you really think boxer’s IQ is a problem? You make it sound like she’s the one dumb politican spoiling the batch. Like if she was gone the rest of the team could finally move forward towards utopia, while doing calculous problems in their heads

I think that in 3-5 years we are going to have experienced a crisis that will wipe out a lot of the imbalances in the world right now. It’s going to hurt. The middle class will be punished severely.

The consensus at that point will be that America is done, over. Our currency will be trashed. Great American businesses like Coke and Proctor and Gamble will be selling for single-digit PE’s and gold will be selling for $5000.

And then we will come out the other side.

I think that in the period beyond that we are going to experience the true benefits of globalization. For the past ten years we have been on the receiving end of global wage arbitrage — i.e. American jobs and manufacturing going to China without much benefit to us aside from lower prices. In the decades to come, we are going to see the rise of a global middle class — two billion people — and that will represent the greatest boom in the history of mankind. It will represent real prosperity. American businesses like Coke, Proctor & Gamble, etc. will have vast new markets to sell into.

America has cultural advantages that will enable us to benefit from this boom. We have the most entrepreneurial culture in the world. We are generally pro-immigration, which is something that Europe and Japan aren’t and will impair them going forward. We encourage independent thinking, which leads to innovation. We are very forgiving of failure. We readily absorb foreign ideas and turn them to our advantage.

The only way we can screw this up is to fail to educate our workforce, which is a real concern of mine, because our competitiveness in that regard has been slipping in recent years. Aside from that, I can confidently say that America’s best days are ahead of us.

Agreed regarding your concern on education. That’s a system that can’t continue on as it’s been. If you look at what a high-quality college education cost say, 30 years ago, and what the cooresponding benefit was…it’s now slanted the other way. Schools can just rely on selling the dream at any cost. That’s got to crumble, since the dream isn’t there any more. How long can tuition go up 7% per year? And as a related concept, when are people going to stop looking at 1980-2000 as “the norm” in terms of economic expansion, and coorespondingly knock down their expectations for their own earnings growth? You can’t come out of college having spent 4 years and $200k, expecting to get that back anytime soon, if at all.

Failure to educate the workforce is huge. My children are learning Latin, Greek, Western Civ, world history, serious mathematics, rhetoric, philosophy. Stuff I didn’t learn until college, and let me tell you, I went to a pretty damn decent college.

My kids do not go to a public school, but a school whose curricula was derived from one delivered prior to the rise of the NEA. Literally, this teacher– who is ironically considered an “innovator” — went back to a “traditional architecture” and created the fastest growing school in our region. No bullshit, no shortcuts. Not for everyone, but for the bright kids, it’s like Miracle-Gro.

Socially liberal? No. Learning what they need to be able to think on their feet in 2015+? Hell yes.

We desperately need school reform, but we will not get it until we break the monopoly of the teacher’s unions, and allow for a free flow of tested ideas. Bureaucracy is the mind killer.

10 years? Try 15 years … can’t wait for KO, PG, etc to build more mfg plants abroad and then expect our government to let them repatriate those profits tax free … support your local CEO, he may hire you to wash his car or make his bed, despite your PHD.

No, but I think California is a Giant fucking state, with the world’s seventh largest economy. You only get TWO freaking Senators and I’d trade EITHER of the guys from Wyoming (population 500,0000) for that dimbot.

You can’t do better than that? You want that representing you? God bless, maybe it’s the wine industry, because France is equally circular firing squad oriented.

    Very interesting Goldbug.

I agree with much of your fiscally conservative and socially liberal thesis and if you and Jake are correct about gold, well I’ll just keep making it a larger and larger part of the port.

@Nice — you can only post here if you put up your legit name. I know who you are from your IP address, so stop being a coward and man up with a regular posting name.

Otherwise, find yourself in the void, coward.

I have only ever posted on your blog using the nickname Nice. If that doesn’t work for you, then that’s just too bad. No real loss to me.

This is just another example of your hypocrisy.

Not if I c ya first.

One of the reasons Canuckistan will lose. Lefties are naturally dishonest, and the lefties are (still) in charge.

Fight the power, Canuckistan… get crumbs like “Nice” (ironic) out of your hair!
