Top Eight Short Setups – Best on the Interwebs

There are some pretty ones tonight! Remember that shorts are called shorts because they are meant to be quick trades.

Each symbol is linked to a Stockcharts chart, for your convenience.

Finally, I challenge you to find better short setups, anywhere on these interwebs.

1. PEI

2. MGM

3. BKD

4. SKX

5. SNDK

6. VCI (My personal favorite)

7. SHO

8. COLB

    Wood,

Please get back to us on question inside the Power Dip. The 3x ATR eats most of the entire account on just this one position. Doesn’t seem like a good idea to me. What to do!?

Not bad, ABB, as it looks as if it might be at the top of a recent range. However, it is also above its 50 and 200 day moving averages. That would make me more inclined to buy a pullback rather than short it.

so I set up some alerts on these for some targets to open short positions. not necessarily intending to short all or even any of them, just watching. well PEI just flew through my alert. so how do you read this? still a good short, or now that it’s pretty firmly above the 50 day, does it have support there?

      That’s a great question Sax.
I don’t like to short much of anything trading above its moving averages (50, 200). However, with PEI, you should consider that it appears that it may be at the top of its recent range. Also note that it looks like it has broken above its recent downtrend, and the 50 day may act as support.
Personally, with today’s action in the Dow, SPX, etc., I’d not be looking for shorts but instead looking long, especially after a pullback.
