Attention RNC – you have just lost my vote, and any person with more than two firing neurons in their head that votes for John McCain and Sarah Palin this fall is both certifiably insane and is voting for the intentional destruction of our nation’s financial security.
If your party does not step in prior to this “fait accompli” being announced and squelch it, I will burn in effigy my Gingrich Speaker’s Gavel, make a Youtube video making clear how I feel about The Republican Party, and will be filing a party affiliation change Monday morning.
That’s a promise.
Foreign policy and military prowess is immaterial if you have no money; The Republicans have spent the last eight years practicing fraud and theft upon the public, and now, less than one week after saying that it was antithetical to the party principles your standard-bearers go do exactly what you said is unacceptable.
Denninger apparently doesn’t understand that the platform adopted at the convention is what McCain supports and plans to do and has no bearing whatsoever on the current occupant of the White House.
McCain is on record stating that Freddie and Fannie need to be privatized or closed.
McCain has been on board these past 8 years without saying a thing except, “go ahead George”. You think the old man is gonna change in the remaining few years of his life? You are obviously a young man.

McCain has diverged from Bush on several important issues.
However, since you brought it up, I’ll leave it to you to figure out which ones.
I will say though that many repubs are unhappy with the fiscal irresponsibility of the Bush admin.
Let me give you something to chew on. We know Obama has voted with the Democrat party 97% of the time, while McCain has voted with the Repubs 90% of the time. Using those figures, which one is likely to diverge from the party line?

We know Obama will not change anything, except to increase spending through creation of new and broader social programs.

Name one issue where Obama told his party leadership to go to hell. Just one. McCain has butted heads repeatedly with the party, and Palin not only butted heads with her state party leadership, she cut them off at the knees. If they were corrupt, she went after them.
How many corrupt politicians in Chicago did Obama target? Oh right, political corruption in Chicago doesn’t exist. My bad.
Quite honestly, I never thought the day would come when I would be standing up for McCain, I’m not a fan, but sending a Chicago politician to the White House is simply insane if you care at all about government corruption. It is fox guarding the henhouse crazy.
There is one silver lining in all of this. If Obama wins we won’t have to worry about paying for all of those social welfare programs he promised because any spare change will be used to pay for delinquent mortgages.
In this case its not the lesser of 2 evils. Its who sucks less. IMO, Obama sucks less.
My town has 10,000 people in it, which would apparently qualify my Mayor to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Politicos, you forget Palin is the Govenor, not the Mayor.
Quite a few Govenor have gone on to become President. Was not Clinton the Govenor of Arkansas?
The only part of town that smells bad is the recycling center. And even that isn’t too bad; has more an odor of fertilizer than rotting refuse.
People went ga-ga over Palin. That sentiment completely eluded me. The debates should be entertaining. Get your popcorn maker ready.

As anyone can plainly see, both of the clowns running for POTUS are economic imbeciles. As is Biden. I’d like to think Palin is different; at least her record gives some semblance of such. I agree you with that the Republican party “brand” has been tarnished by corruption of those in the highest offices who wear the party name on their sleeves. They need to be pole-axed. The Repub brand currently is epitomized by “capitalist socialism”. Palin may be part of the avante garde to change things at the higher levels. It remains to be seen. Important, as Woodshedder pointed out, if Barack O’Carter attains the White House and there is an expansion of both houses of Congress to the left, the proverbial demons will be unleashed upon this nation. Perhaps more importantly, you can be sure that any Supreme Court justices appointed by McCain will be closer to Thomas, Alito, Roberts, and Scalia. O’Carter will give you another (master)Bader Ginsberg. That should make you quake in your shitkickers is nothing else does. Unless you’re a social immoralist yourself.
