No One’s Going to Take Me Alive; Time Has Come to Make Things Right

Not my video, but an excellent bootleg of the closing number from Muse‘s amazing hour-long set this past weekend at Oracle Arena (Oakland).  Definitely one of the best 60 minutes of live music I’ve ever seen…but what else would you expect from the best (live) band of the past decade?!

Please note the quality rendition of Ennio Morricone’s classic The Man with the Harmonica as the intro to the set’s last song, the Western-themed Knights of Cydonia.

In other news, FLR is busting out for apparently no particular reason. ..at least I can’t find any news on it.  Of course, the only thing that matters is that I went long some Jan’10 40. calls over 2 points ago (@41.17, as posted yesterday) – currently sitting at over 50% profits on said options.

That intro is from Once Upon a Time in the West, (1968) no? With the smoking Claudia Cardinale as the damsel in distress and young Bronson as her savior?

Brilliant move, making Henry Fonda the crystal-blue-eyed bad guy.

Same director — Sergio Leone — did all those classic Clint Spaghetti Westerns… A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For A Few Dollars More(1965), and of couse, the classic: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, (1966).

Morricone did the music for all those as well… and look it’s suitable for Christmas gifting!

Yes, The Man with the Harmonica (aka. Charles Bronson) theme is from Once Upon a Time in the West.

I know Leone gets a lot of plaudits for his earlier movies, but I’ve always preferred the more serious later trilogy (Once Upon a Time in the West, Fistful of Dynamite, Once Upon a Time in America).

Now if only he had managed to get Lee Van Cleef into those as well…

Once upon a Time in America had Jennifer Connelly in it… which immediately makes it his best film.

Never saw “Fistful of Dynamite…” Gonna have to rent that one…
