12 Little Girls

Congrats to #6 and especially Mrs. #6, who did all the work on their first little bambino, let’s call her “One Sixth.”

Hopefully, this nice young couple will recognize soon that NYC is a great place for getting one’s windshield involuntarily  squeegeed for a dollar, or for getting your carbon credit fix on by taking the sweaty summer #4 train uptown instead of a cab.

For raising sweet young things, however?  Well…

Anyway, God bless and good luck, she’s beautiful.

I’m a bit ambivalent about the precious this week.  I think we’ll continue to do well here, but I’ll probably start taking some profits this week as well.   No need to get too greedy.

As far as what I’m looking at, I’m surveying that nasty old sugar name, IPSU again.  Why?  For no other reason than that it’s taking the commodity train up again.   If it breaks through this resistance here, it might be well worth taking on a position once again:

My best to you all, and God bless the little children.

Some points about IPSU, as I investigated them last week:
Their operating costs are nearly at their revenue line no thanks to the government and the 2008 Farm Bill. The legislation currently in place limits the imports of raw cane into the US which has caused the price of sugar to spike over the past few years. Other governments fully subsidize the harvesting of sugar. Their main refining asset is located within America. The Farm Bill expires in September 2012 and a similar one will probably be created at that point. There was a catastrophic failure at their plant last year killing employees and the rebuilding process is underway. The stock does however trade at about half of BV, the float is low, and there’s a 15% short position.

Real Hymn [sic], I’m very impressed by your intellect, but am confused at the conclusion. Not unlike an Iron Chef J.: is this opinion query for amendment, approval or polite dismissal?

Lol.

There’s a point when you apply heat to sugar whereupon it changes physical state and retains value. If you continue to raise the temperature beyond that threshold, it burns into a horrendous worthless solid. Right now the government has the burners on and the gas flowing while the liquefied sugar in the pot is rippling in the heat. They have the power to adjust the outcome, but will they?

Save the farmers or save the refiners, that’s their choice. While it does trade below BV, is there any value in the book?

He will.

I imagine you have the extended hard cover set, the DVR, magazine, plush dolls, board game and outdoor play set by now?

And that’s just for Swallowed by the Whale Boy!

Ludwig Bemelmans’ “Madeline” is a classic for every little girl! At one point, I even had mine dressed up in the little hat and coat. Little girls are really sugar and spice; congratulations to both Mr. and Mrs. #6!
