Going to Turkey

Fez man
Indeud!
________________

I’ve got on meeting with yet another fast moving tech company in the morning (innovation yet lives, even in these dire times) and then I’m off to Noo Yawk for Turkish Festivities.

I’m bringing my fez and all my kids.   I may not however, bring all of them back.   It just depends on the float action in the Macy’s T-Day Parade.   If they are slow moving enough… well…

Besides the Parade, which is a family tradition for my Mom from long before I was born, we will do touron things for which I used to laugh at people  back when I was a young Puck.   Odd how these things come ’round, no?

We will visit Teddy Roosevelt’s Sagamore Hill House in Oyster Bay.   We will go see Cirque de Soleil’s Wintuk, just because it’s “for the kids.”   It will be “most ghey.”

We will have Turkish Dinner (or “Pilgrim’s Repast” as they like to call it in Milford, MA)  and many many bottles of premium California cabernets at my Uncle & Aunt’s house in the Aye Bee.  It’s usually quite epic.

Likely, I will only have time to communicate with you through evening post and the occasional Crackberry aside.  I think you’ll make it through.    Looks like tomorrow should be relatively pleasant, and I hope everyone remains in good cheer.

Keep your grandmamaw’s close, now.   Hear?

You could go all Belushi: commandeer a float, implant it with an IBC sign, drive it through the…Naw, better just hold the kids up and watch Snoopy, et. al. go by. Have a great time.

You know, you give me a glimmer of an idea, ovah heah…

I’m almost positive that the “Monopoly Industrialist” Dude is a featured float in the Macy’s Parade.

How cool would it be if we got that balloon sponsored by iBC.com? Maybe have the preceding banner say nothing but “iBankCoin.com — Indued!”

Thank you, we are here and all well, sipping on some Seghessio Zinfendel.

Problem is, I seemed to have misplaced a crucial charger cord for my laptop (not even the whole thing, just the plug part if it!), so I’m typing this from Mom’s comp.

Since I have all my Blog log-in info on my personal comp, I am going to have to hoof it to the Radio shack to pick up that plug in order to post a new entry, ovah heah.

Either that, or I’m gonna have to get Jeremy to resend me the log in link.

What is it w/Moms and that damn parade? My dear Mum still enjoys that string of commercials brought to life with floats and balloons, too. Fortunately my young niece will watch every excruciating minute with her.

And tho Cirque-du-So-Gay is often just that, the look on the kids’ faces makes it more than tolerable. In any event, the Teddy R. tour should restore the testosterone equilibrium to the holiday.

Have a great one, Jake. Not sure if you’re driving or flying with your progeny, but safe travels.

Flew– you have to be cracked to drive into NY on T-day Week. It’ like Escape from New York, in reverse.

But thanks for the well wishes.

      Kids still like it, soooo…

Fly’s coming to Cirque So Ghey, just fyi.

ANV was sick again today. Up over 9%.

I tell you, some of these babies outperform even my wildest expectations. I stand in awe.

Yes it was— sold a bunch at the highs today per your advice to us. And EXK shot up to about
4 bucks early (I didn’t sell some then, should have) and then in the afternoon someone sold over 300K shares and it headed down. Couldn’t find any news on either stock today re their big moves.

But enough of “that stuff” — hope you and your family have just a wonderful time this week.

i know i should have sold some ANV (and SLW, and CDE, and RGLD…) but i couldn’t pull the trigger. My greed will be my downfall.

…Unless they go to the moon. In which case my greed will buy me some nice toys.

      Indeubitably! (sic)

More cool Katz for you and DMG, Jakesky.

My Favourite point: “Third, the New York Times, which became a great paper under the leadership of Adolph Ochs, started out as a defender of the gold standard. Ochs took over the Times in 1896, a year in which there was a classic battle over the gold standard. William McKinley favored gold. His supporters were called gold bugs. His opponent, William Jennings Bryan, warned that “mankind would be crucified on a cross of gold.” McKinley won – in 1896 and again in a replay election in 1900. When the present day Times condemns gold, it is spitting in the face of its great founder.”

Yours (probably): “Second, the great defense of the gold standard was made by the Democratic Party, which was founded in 1828 by Andrew Jackson and Martin van Buren. These men abolished the second central bank (similar to the current Federal Reserve System). They attacked Wall Street and the bankers, and central bankers became persona-non-grata from 1832 to the early 20th century.”

That’s pretty amazing. I think I’ve made an almost verbatim similar statement about keeping the Central bankers away for 80 years…. Maybe Katz readz this blogz?

“Pilgrim’s Repast” as they like to call it in Milford, MA …

Where’d you come up with that?

Drinking Pinot Noir at the Portuguese Club one holiday?

I love red wine as a rule, but I really do NOT like Pinot Noir.

I bless that one goofy movie that came out and made it all the rage, though.. as it temporarily cropped the prices on my beloved cabs and meritages.

Maybe I’ve just been getting the wrong stuff, but that overwhelming “raisiny” flavah just tends to pucker my face all up.

Not a huge fan of Syrah/Shiraz, either.

          Though I like it in a blend…

I think I’m turning Japanese as I recommend an ice wine…comes from my neck of the woods…
” Of special interest is Inniskillin’s ice wine made from 100% Cabernet Franc grapes, reviewed below:

2004 Inniskillin Ice Wine Cabernet Franc Niagara Peninsula VQA; 10.5% alc., about US$65.

Mmmm… ice wine is awesome… but very much a desert aperitif type of thing.

          To be drunk w. “caution.”

I’ve read a lot of stuff to my kids… but probably the Narnia books is best for “all ages.”

I’ve also read them “the Hobbit” and “LOTR” but at progressively older ages.

For my youngest one, the Maurice Sendak panopoly, from “Mickey in the Night Kitchen” to the more quotidian but subversive “Little Bear” series is very useful.

Of course, Seuss is the ultimate primer… all varieties.
