Bonnie-and-Clyde-1967-001

The Arthur Penn-directed Bonnie and Clyde (1967) merits a viewing regardless if you have seen the recent television mini-series of the same name.

Warren Beatty, the stunning Faye Dunaway, Michael J. Pollard, and Gene Hackman headline the action-packed, crime thriller based on the real-life Great Depression outlaws and robbers, Bonnie Parker, Clyde Barrow, and their gang from the Dallas area roaming the central U.S..

Raising Cain (1992), Brian DePalma’s 1992 thriller starring John Lithgow (pictured above) and Lolita Davidovich, is worth seeing due to the great Lithgow’s lead performance.

With its young and vibrant cast, Glory (1989) still ranks as one of my favorite all-time films. Starring Matthew Broderick, Denzel Washington, Cary Elwes and Morgan Freeman, the Civil War film chronicles the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, the first formal unit of the US Army to be made up entirely of African American men, as told from the point of view of commanding officer Colonel Robert Gould Shaw (Broderick).

Denzel (pictured above in a memorable scene) won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Other Oscars were won for cinematography and sound, both top notch.

Slumdog Millionaire (2008) is the very entertaining Bollywood film set in Mumbai, and directed by the great Danny Boyle.

It is definitely a good watch.

From imdb.com:

A Mumbai teen who grew up in the slums, becomes a contestant on the Indian version of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” He is arrested under suspicion of cheating, and while being interrogated, events from his life history are shown which explain why he knows the answers

The-Godfather-Part-II

From the streets of Little Italy in the early-20th century, to steamy and dark Havana nights, to the scenic and memorable Tahoe shots, The Godfather: Part II (1974) is likely the best sequel ever made, perhaps even surpassing the original.

There are simply too many memorable characters and scenes to mention, to the point where if I did I would be leaving some big ones out and it would be an “infamnia.”

So, I will tell you that the film is a must-see, provided of course that you saw the original.

Go (1999) takes place during Christmas Eve, and profiles the shenanigans of too-cool-for-school Los Angelenos.

Directed by Doug Liman, of Swingers (1996) fame, the action-packed, fast-talking Go stars Katie Holmes, Jay Mohr, Taye Diggs, and the great Timothy Olyphant (pictured above).

The film shows a good ability to keep you engrossed in its varying storylines without unnecessarily complicating things. Check it out.
