We are still in consolidation as long as we stay within the 875-930 range. We are in a low-volume neutral range.
I have been stressing careful selection for several weeks now. I was up +1% yesterday (on a -2% down day), primarily due to my gains in AVII, BLTI, DVAX, PLLL, TGB and a day trade in OCLS. If you are a swing trader, it is your duty to stem any bleeding by any means necessary. Half of my positions declined today, and CTIC, KV/A, and UXG remained neutral.
I made a big mistake yesterday by selling ANPI 1 hr before the initial intra-day spike. The stock went on to gain more than +45%. It happens, so you just move on and find the next breakout. These days, there’s always a stock that moves 100% or more in a single day (AXL, OXGN, OCLS, etc). Find them.
I may add some more longs in the bio/pharm sector today and do some rebalancing. I see more opportunities going forward. Remember, selective positioning ensures loss containment.

Do you a have a former post on how you find those stocks that are about to break out? I have a better than average understanding about stock consolidation & pattern formation, MA’s, and other indicators. My question refers to where do you look to find those set-ups? What screeners and/or scanners do you use? I remember one of your post you said you review hundreds of stocks a day? Is this review after you use what screener, scanner, or whatever? Thanks for you do on your web site.

Took my profits in OCLS – out at 5. I’m going to kick myself hard or buy it again. Trimmed but keeping the ANPI So much of the biotech portfolio is scorching had to trim – much obliged to CA / RC for the egregious coinage. So much excitement, I may even have grown some hair. As for the biotech, my take is most of the monoclonal stuff acheiving phase ll trials have an enormous amount of upside potential. I like the FACT product lineup – bought a small position. I know this is a daytraders paradise, but I’m pretty comfortable socking away small (biotech) buys for longer term potential – seems like one pops and the others get a boost.
AKRX, that record volume is attributable to Pequot liquidating their position, they had 15M shares (2nd largest holder)… looks like they blew out of the whole position.

well to be honest one can never be certain. but if you look at the fact people leaving technology(QQQQ or NDX) to SPX and Dow shows that people leaving risky to less risky. Also, Dollar is on support. TLT on support. SLV against major resistance. Past four days have gone according to plan for me. We are against resistance and must close below certain levels for the week and month close. Why I expect us to close on trendlines/near them. Gap down Monday puts full bear into play. It will be a continuous gap. Vix will shoot over its trendlines breaking out of wedge. BKX out of broadening top. IYR and XLF out of their channels etc….
I said earlier in week we get a doji on weekly. It will either be a doji or a bearish candle(in the sense of large tail to the top)
forgot to mention that Nasdaq to SPX fired sell signal and put/call signal just fired a sell signal also….
SPx 892 tomorrow is the close/low of day. Or else it is 886. regardless tomorrow a down day
