Patience is a Large Position

The risk of trying to play what the market “might do,” based on what Europe or the Fed “might do,” far outweighs the possible reward. This could be a small hiccup, or it could be the start to something much bigger. Cyprus is a small piece of the puzzle, but what happens if insured depositors from larger countries get the same treatment? Imagine the chaos that would ensue in Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, etc?

I imagine the bank runs would spiral, from country to country, ripping the foundation out from under the pyramid. But, what is the correlation with US markets? We haven’t been able to accurately determine that so far in 2013, as this is the first major news/event in the EU. I really want to be bullish, not just because I want to make money.

I want to be bullish because our country is screwed. We have more debt, people on welfare, and people on food stamps than ever before. Who pays for all of this? The middle and upper classes, so much to the point that Bill Maher has even threatened that the liberals are losing him. If these folks are going to continue to have to pay, they are going to need the funds to do so, the market so far this year has made 400,000 new millionaires. Here in CA, especially SF, being a millionaire doesn’t mean much, except that you will be paying more taxes.

This is obviously a short term fix, and not the right one. Many a thing needs to change, especially the sad fact of the ever expanding welfare state. But, I know there are many of you that just want it all to come crashing down, in the faces of the socialists that think of themselves as the purse pocket hand of the people. The chaos this would create would be far worse than the present economic conditions.

Politicians like Rand Paul need to continue their quests, while winning over other less radical politicians. Especially the young ones. The current conditions are not going to be changed by the bickering, power struggling, old guard; the likes of McCain, Feinstein, and Boehner. It is going to take the young lions to step up, and cement themselves. There’s no set ranks in the senate and house, besides the speaker and majority/minority leaders. I hope that the new hard chargers don’t let themselves get bullied by the old crones, that have long held onto their perches. May they take charge and lead us out of darkness.

In the mean time, I want to see the market rip, at the very least that the hard working folks with 401ks and IRAs reap the benefits, without having to be subjected the worthless masses rioting over not receiving free phones, and extra benefits for procreating like rats and rabbits. We all know that the middle and upper classes have been taking a beating for years, rather quietly suppressing their anger, while at the same time, if some worthless humanities professor doesn’t get a 15% pay raise, he strikes, if some convicted felon doesn’t get the benefits “he [thinks he] deserves,” he riots.

In my mind, if someone is a convicted criminal, having committed a harsh crime– often multiple times –against his fellow man, then why should he be treated as a civilized human anymore? Why should hard working people have to pay for a criminal who is irresponsibly having kids? They shouldn’t, but it’s an unfortunate reality. Let’s go Ben, time to slap the olive eaters over the head– again –and let them know who the bosses are.

  1. I am in full accord with your thoughts. So much so that, dare I suggest it, you should consider running for office. You’ve got the youth, determination, and correct perspective on what’s happening to us. Think about it, if you haven’t already done so.

    • Thanks man, that means a lot, but I don’t think i could handle all the passive aggressive BS. I surely would not get elected here.

  2. The only problem is the govt. will come for more and more when the present fairy tale ends in chaos. The wealth taxes and confiscations will worsen over time. May the Dow soar to 50k but the hard working folk you mention will be punished in the western
    world either way.

  3. FYI-Lululemon pulls some yogawear products; cuts sales outlook
2 hours ago by Thomson Reuters
TORONTO, March 18 (Reuters) – Lululemon Athletica Inc said on Monday it is pulling a whole section of women’s yogawear products from store shelves because certain shipments received from its factories fell short of its standards.

Lululemon said the move will “have a significant impact” on its financial results and will lead to a shortage of its signature black Luon fabric yoga pants in its stores.

Shares of Vancouver, British Columbia-based Lululemon slid 5.9 percent to $62.00 in U.S. trading after the closing bell.

The company said it now expects fiscal first-quarter 2013 sales to be in the range of $333 million to $343 million, down from a prior view of $350 million to $355 million.

  4. IMO, the number one enemy of young idealistic politicians is not older politicians, but special interests and the billions and billions and billions of dollars and the subsequent power that goes along with it. I can imagine that stuff is pretty hard to resist for someone trying to get ahead in the field.

If they don’t do it, someone else will, and guess who the people are going to elect? That’s right, the person who ‘the powers that be’ want to be elected.
