Sen Feinstein, You Have to be Kidding Me?

So, the good senator from my state has decried that veterans like myself are unfit to own assault rifles, because we may PTSD. that’s not even the part that pisses me off the most, the fact that she thinks  PTSD, which I think is a new phenomenon as a product of the Iraq War.”  Are you kidding me? So veterans of other wars don’t have PTSD? How the hell do we vote these people into office, and not just once, but for years?!

Here’s an excerpt:

SEN. DIANNE FEINSTEIN: If I understand this, this adds an exemption of retired military. As I understand our bill, no issue has arose in this regard during the 10 years the expired ban was in effect and what we did in the other bill was exempt possession by the United States or a department or agency of the United States. So that included active military.

The problem with expanding this is that, you know, with the advent of PTSD, which I think is a new phenomenon as a product of the Iraq War, it’s not clear how the seller or transferrer of a firearm covered by this bill would verify that an individual was a member, or a veteran, and that there was no impairment of that individual with respect to having a weapon like this.

So, you know, I would be happy to sit down with you again and see if we could work something out but I think we have to– if you’re going to do this, find a way that veterans who are incapacitated for one reason or another mentally don’t have access to this kind of weapon.

Maybe she is just scared of us? Because we pose the biggest threat to her party’s totalitarian agenda? Apparently we are all just disposable heroes.

  1. The Eye-Talian Stallion

If I can’t carry an AR with a forty round mag in my truck I’m not living there.

  2. Rhino – excellent song choice….Metallica was so solid.

I’ve been reading about The Whiskey Rebellion, and there are so many analogies one can make to today. I *do* think austerity and its ugliness is coming… these folks don’t want to be dealing with armed militants when it’s time to get down to business….. PURE EVIL

  3. This sounds smart-assed, but why not? Taxpayer money is flowing to the military industrial complex, big banks, big pharma/medical and every other special interest that has an congressperson in their pocket. “Austerity” in my opinion won’t be to repay money spent now. It will be in the form of incredibly reduced services that people believed they had paid for and are entitled to, as well as dramatically higher taxes to keep govt limping along in the post crash era….the US Govt will be out of cash, as those that truly pull the strings will have extracted the representation of every American’s ‘life’s work.’

    • I am waiting for the day they decide mining the personal retirement accounts, IRA’s, 401K’s of US citizens is all for the “greater good” or because “you had help” getting that money and it’s not all yours.

Just waiting. Just wondering what it is going to take to start the landslide.
Mauldin talks about a random event that finally triggers the fiscal crash that is coming in his end game book.
The same thing happens in a sociological/political context. People will give and give, bend and bend, in the false hope that things will get better until one day a catalyst type event starts the snowball rolling downhill.
      What will it be?

  4. Seems like the sequester was a good “trial run” for that.

  5. So, let me get this straight…the only people who have been formally trained to use these kind of weapons should have them taken away? That sounds about right.

This seems like a preemptive strike in an attempt to squash any potential insurrection.

    • The Once and Future Rhino

BINGO, tell him what he’s won Carl…

    • mostly because of a different view of logistics. the ex vet,(military) knows logistics more so then the everyday fruitcake politician. and that scares the fuck out of them.why do you think fine stein has armed guards.she knows some can come into her home while she is asleep at night, and lay that nice horse head next to their pillow.

  6. Don’t put up with that garbage. Move to Florida. The gun laws are very accommodating, there is no federal income tax, and as Homer Simpson said, Florida is America’s wang.

  7. some years back,if you remember the comedian george carlin.one of his sets, he did a thing on exactly what you are saying about ptsd.you would love watching it.how they have, through the ages, changed the term,”shell shocked”,to it’s new and polished name, ptsd. although since the time of the term shell shocked, there where maybe three other names that were “re-labeled” as shell shocked. you could probably spend some time on old you-tube footage and find it. i wish i had a link.but for you, this is important i know.but once you see it you’ll fucking agree in such a way that only you would know just how twisted and spun things have become just from my generation to yours.i swear, once you see that george carlin tape you will gain some personal ammo.

  8. She also said that it’s legal to hunt humans! Amazing. You should go out and bag some, Rhino.
