Keep your eyes on JAZZ tomorrow – just announced positive results from a second phase lll trial on their Fibromyalgia drug and are shooting for FDA approval by the end of 2009. They’ve got a bunch of presentations coming up next week, but all their stuff has been pro.
It’s sitting on the 50 day after taking a hot pizza slap down. Jazz Pharmaceuticals has completed two Phase III pivotal clinical trials of JZP-6, with positive results in both studies. Jazz Pharmaceuticals is working to submit a New Drug Application for sodium oxybate for the treatment of fibromyalgia to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration by the end of 2009.
Appreciate your take CA on it but looks like if there’s enough mojo to bust through the 20 day sitting around 8.25 or so the JAZZ rocket might return with a vengeance. Disclosure; long a full position just north of there. I’ll likely load up if it breaks the 20 day.
HLCS is a strange bird. I was primed to sell late this afternoon as it teetered on the 20 day – in the past this was a launch point – but I’ve seen so much EOD fuckery with this stock (usually a bump up) I held off and sure as shit 1/2 the day’s loss was erased in the last trade or so. They’ve had a string of decent news and the stock has drifted – but the float is such a small percentage of the available shares – I just can’t get my arms around what’s going on at all. I’m holding (a 4x position) because of my conviction in the company / tech and having bought way south of here. Something’s afoot – winning grants – great, but no sales news in 3 weeks.

More than 20 times avg volume, hit a new 52 week high and it didn’t break down south of $14.00 (prior close $12.69).
My question to you. Buy at the open or wait for a decent pullback? I’m learning tons from you! I can find the strong stocks, I just get paralyzed thinking about what my next step should be.

Covered SBGI @ 4.52… no breakdown through 4.50 for over 30 mins. After that long, if no break the chances decrease substantially, take your profits and on to the next one.
Watch LTON, break at 2.675
Eyes on ETFC into earnings, pushing towards the 20 day. I picked up a lot during the Citadel sell off over th month – large holding for me.

HLCS update….some crazyness: looks like around 70K shares just sold in a couple of big blocks dropping the price, followed immediately by a couple of big buys totalling close to same number bumping it back up a few minutes later. I’m voting headfake again, still holding.
Keep an eye out for the typical afternoon pop for JAZZ, I don’t think the run is nearly done. CVM showing new life. I missed the move.

as mentioned above, i set a buy stop for $2.61, because that would break the resistance since september 29. It broke above, but i will want to see it close above $2.61 in order for me to feel good for a big move. if it does, we could see $3 tomorrow

any news about why it was suddenly shooting up-then jumped back to the charts and your teaching and said “look at the chart girl!!” and sold most of it. will wait and watch for re-entry.
what i loved about the GSI thing today was the convergence of advice/teaching from Fly and John to achieve a successful trade. Fly with the discussion about steel yesterday – John’s teaching on entry/exit points and watching the screen even when it’s boring while playing a movie.

Closed CVM @ 1.59 AH on CA’s advice to fade it @ the 20 dma … hope you’re right CA, looked pretty strong today but did close the AH session @ 1.55
I also saw the 20d ma and prior swing high of 1.63. But just in case I only closed half of my cvm at 1.59 after hours. So, whichever way it goes from here I’ll be half right.
Too much negativity from AF @ The Street and as I had a nice profit in it (20%) I’m happy to move on as there are other fish to fry ….
GL with the other half … so far with this rally I’ve been dumping swing trades too early only to see them double again from where I sold them, but c’est la vie, I’m still up 99%

Did you see the large spike in buying volume in last 5 minutes before close on FTK yesterday?
In the past few weeks, there’s been a huge spike in buying volume in the last 5 minutes on a few days (check out the charts on 10/2, 10/5 and 10/6 – on 10/2, it shot up from 1.94 to like 2.14 in the last few minutes, to name a few), so be careful about buying in early trading… though yday’s could be the signal of that huge pop we’ve been waiting for…
