SQNM looks imminent
YRCW 25% of float short.
SQNM 39% of float short.
the ratio is fairly low though.
ChnDragun what ratios have you found to be very good for short squeeze? I am just starting to pay attention to this.
I get it now. SIR better measure than % float.
You can get a list of the highest shorts here : http://www.highshortinterest.com/ ..The list is updated every week, I believe.. You can also take any stock you are interested in and get a more current short value at Shortsqueeze.com .. Personally, I find 25% short of float to be pretty hefty .. But there are others on the list that are even higher SYNA at 46% for example ..But bear in mind that sometimes there is a real good reason for a stock to be that short too
@Urbane_Gorilla ;=)
Hey CA- rarely make it to the comments anymore but it makes me sad you’re experiencing quite negative reactions to people who get off on being jerks. Glad you’re doing different stuff, exploring different facets and all. Even if it means the discretionary trader lessons of high caliber get thin. After all it’s only money… Can’t speak for you but my ability and inclination to pick the expectations I have for my life has only gotten better over time. I’ve still got plenty of challenges in growing there but it’s good. You probably stir plenty of envy and even jealousy in people and that’s volatile. Heck, if I didn’t know I was psychologically unfit for discretionary trading I might be so stirred too. You might ponder why you draw and engage these pitiful folk- the reasons are probably not simple and perhaps difficult to focus on. Peace out and I wish you well.
I’m not sure why anyone would find the negative reaction puzzling.
CA has a habit of boasting his wins to the point where it really rubs people the wrong way especially those who are not doing well(read Bears). I used to follow him on twitter but got tired of all the ‘I win again!’ posts.
There’s great stuff to learn here but toning it down would go a long way. The tough kids in the class didn’t need to act like bullies because they didn’t need to prove anything and great traders are humble people who know respect the market knowing they’re only as good as their last trade.
No one really gives a shit if you are up 100% or 300%, as long as your a profitable trader and we can all learn something.

Anyone know anything about the one day on FNET? Can’t find any news. Up 96%, on the close, but over 135%, at one point.
There was an analyst report released today about FNET. It is 6 pages long and costs $15.
I found it in yahoo finance: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/rr?s=FNET
Overall though FNET’s industry (casino type stuff) did incredible today. BYD, SHFL,MGM.. etc. This plus the report, low mkt cap and positive looking chart made it susceptible to this kind of run, imo.
Holding OCLR overnight @ $1
Dumped SPPI @ 2 cent loss …. now she can run, haha
Holding CVM, DRYS, KOG, OCLR, RAME, WNR & XIDE
Just checked my account performance online and here’s what I got so far …..
Monthly Performance on two accounts since 3/1/09:
MAR 9.90% – 11.02%
APR 31.69% – 41.47%
MAY 18.41% – 26.46%
JUN (2.72%) – (14.26%)
JUL 9.46% – 1.34%
AUG 7.84% – 3.76%
SEP 3.52% – 4.64%
TOT 78.10% – 74.43%
Have to see how I FTK’d up in JUN …. must have been a pullback that month.
Well done. Are most of these gains on breakouts or other reliable patterns that you’ve had success with? If so, what’s your favorites? Also, what do you like to scan for / filter on, if you don’t mind?
Thanks.
As you can tell, I was all in on 3/1 or so and was expecting a 50% retracement (per EW) and just bought financials, energy and some industrials and held into June. I started raising cash (sell in May) and got to 75% cash sometime in July.
Since then, I’ve stuck to day and swing trades to maintain a hefty cash position in anticipation of the pullback that was barely felt. Fly was right about staying invested though there were some periods where it looked as though he would be wrong. In any event I didn’t lose any sleep or beach time not to mention cash.
I realized that Fly was right so rather than go all in again at these levels I decided to day/swing trade to avoid holding too many positions. I’ve done well with PM’s (taking profits after runs and buying back on pullbacks), biotech, energy and generally micro caps.
I scan for micros looking for stuff I’m familiar with that has been beaten up and left for dead. Stuff selling below BV or @ a discount to free cash flow. Look for Flags, Triangles, IHS, BTFO’s etc.
Best trades were caught being early into LTXC, MEG, DAN, GY, YRCW, SGY, XL, TRW etc.
I do so much research (5 hrs/day) that I inevitably run into new ideas such as XIDE, IMUC, BLC, FCEL, RAME (POS with a nice flag on the 15 min – 3 day chart), VECO, PANL, VVUS, MVG, FRG, ANO, CRNT (long before Cramer heard of it) and OCLR (over FNSR) …. guess you could say I love the hunt as much as the game.
For the transition to small/mid/lg caps I’m looking at PXD, HAYN, CLF, SUN, NOV, UPS, L, BA, WY, TRV and ANR on a correction if/when it comes …
Hope this helps … how bout you … and favs I should look at?
Thanks for all the information! Unfortunately, I’m too much of a noob in this arena to offer any reciprocal picks at this time. I’m just trying to learn some new trading styles. I will go though each of the above you mentioned and see if I can see what you saw. Thanks again.
PTSC BTFO.. in at .23 on big news it has been waiting for for 3 years.
I hope no crazy mafia people end up reading this site, hiring hackers to uncover you’re real identity(even though a 22 yr old kid could do it) and kidnapping you for the sake of insane profits. And they’ll just lock you in a basement and force you to work 24/7 to make them double their money every 3 months. You should consider 24 hr a day security and learn shaolin chin na because at the rate your going I predict 100% someone will try to kidnap you. I hate cases of people being to smart for their own good. Good luck.
PS Do you have any concern of another housing bubble starting to rear its ugly head in the next few months?
What’s up with SVA? I know some bad news came out with Canada concerned over the H1N1 vaccines safety and news came out saying the H1N1 may be contained. I don’t see this stock dipping below $8, but this stock needs to move back to the mid $9’s. I’m anticipating this stock to be $12-15 at the height of flu season or in November when talk of “75% of the population will be affected by swine flu” returns.
