Chapulines – Put Them Away Before Bed

Wandering off from the computer late last night  I inadvertently left a couple chocolate covered “chapulines” on the table, and have awoke this morning to complete and total carnage here at the workstation. Apparently my dear friends “the ants” have developed a taste for these “crunchy crickets” as well, as all that remains….a tiny pile of empty husks.

So I sit here scratching my head – looking at how I can wrap this little tragedy up  in a witty and entertaining post. To draw some “trade parallel”, or some clever metaphor for the pile of “body husks” perhaps similar to those scattered ‘cross a trade room floor.

I got nothin.Zip. Nada.

Put your chocolate covered crickets away before you go to bed……..or wake to a tiny pile of husks?

Brilliant. Just brilliant.

I’ve booked a 1% overnight on short USD/CAD and long AUD/USD – out before the usual “morning shenanigans”….and will look to any type of intraday bounce to reload as I expect the USD weakness to continue. Hard.

  1. Why do you have that many ants in your house?

    WTF

  2. When I lived in Oregon, little sugar ants were the bane of my existence. I tried everything short of detonating a small thermonuclear device to get rid of them. There is this gel made by DuPont (the worker ants transport it back to the nest, feed it to the queen which [theoretically, at least] exterminates the clan) that worked better than anything else.

They still found a way to survive and get into the fucking cat food.

  3. Hiliarous.

Living with ants goes hand in hand with living in “warm places”. They are minute/almost “seethrough” really – and completely unintrusive in a day to day way (not like the bastards in Colombia – who’ll lop your arm off)….but an accepted reality of “tropical living” – even in a top floor penthouse!

Wives don’t do well here, nor people blessed with silver spoons hanging from their mouths. I’m a nature fanatic and spent my youth hunting/fishing etc – ants not a problem.

After this long away from any semblance of western thinking – perhaps I’ve grown a thicker skin.

Beats cement and steel in my view.

  4. They’ve been here alot longer than we have – and deserve the utmost respect. I love them – and consider them my friends.

Although on occasion (and to the shagrin of my girlfriend who is Mexican) Ill stir them into my coffee or mop them up with my bread.

    Payback guys……..payback.

  5. A mix of borax (45%), yeast(10%) and powdered sugar(45%) or syrup or jelly makes a good ant bait. They take it back into the nest.

  6. Gotta love it – I’ve spurred more interest in pest control than Forex.

Keep it coming guys – I could curl your toenails.

An old girlfriend was complaining of a “rustling noise” she had heard while in the laundry room ( this was in the mountains of the central valley, Costa Rica – a small farm house I’d rented). During dinner one night ( in the dining room ) I confirmed it, went for the laundry expecting to find a rat / mouse etc – popped open a tiny cupbord door and BAM! – a nest of ants large enough to be heard over dinner time conversation!

BRRRRRRRRRRRR!- was tough getting her back for another date.

  9. You haven’t lived until you’ve woken to a stream of fire ants marching into your kitchen. Life in AL and GA is exciting like that.

Nice decline in USD/CAD from my open sell on Monday. Booked a nice gain today. Stacking more coin. Thanks

  13. Wait, I get it. Trading FX is kinda like eating bugs sometimes. Let’s all say it now in three syllables, like a 13 yr. old girl: Yee-Uhh-Uuk!

I’d go biblical on that ant house you live in and poison the earth with large chemical deposits.
