CA, this is a very interesting comparison. I was just checking out how the SPX was pushing against the long, downsloping resistance started back in Oct 2007, and wondering how it will turn out. If the BRIC’s (or BIC’s here) are a leading indicator, looks like more bullishness ahead.

Just bought some NVAX at 5.27. Volume on the sell off intraday dried up and it looks like it is trying to move up. Short leash on it at around 5.25 or so.

I think we’re close to a nearterm top now… everytime the shittiest of the shittiest rip higher like AIG, C, FNM, FRE like they just did. The market is a day or two from the top. I’d expect massive gaps higher in all 4 names listed above. May 7th is comparable to the last time we topped out as these stocks gapped higher on the open and faded quickly.

Nice AIG trades. The fucker didn’t pop onto my scans until it was over $20 (since I only trade over $20 stocks.. may have to rethink that). I made 15 trades in this squeeze afterwords and it lifted my whole account 3.4% after commission.
I’m done for the day and I’m sure that every market maker is trying to bring AIG down.. but they are stuck @ 21. Fun to watch on lvl 2.
you guys give market makers wayyyyy too much credit. MM’s dont really exist anymore, on our desk we moved stocks as wide as possible so that we dont get hit on either side. It’s not a rule or you get fined, so why would we waste our time on it.

Mike, CA (or anybody): How far below the current price do you put your stops??
Most of the time I just use mental stops. Recently when I’ve been trading ES (like today) I try to keep stops about 1 pt below the current price but it really all depends on technical levels. A little bit into a flag or halfway on a large candle are two of my most common areas. It really depends on how much risk you’re willing to take and your conviction in a play. Hope this helps.

I do visit Xtrends a good amount. I mentioned ES channel prior to Sol posting it…… but I have no need to beg as my strategy will never be to piggy bank off someone else. Although, they do quite well picking low stocks. With a slightly revised trading from myself I might do some cheap dollar stock trades. That’s if my stops get taken out.
I probably will only visit once every few weeeks from here on out …. so peace.

Gotta head to Baltimore for a one hour meeting tomorrow – I’ll end up with a couple of hours of airport time before my 4pm flight home. If I do anything it will be on my iphone which isn’t bad if you’re preselecting some tickers to keep an eye on. Loading RDN, AIG, TGIC, DRL, AXL, HOV along with FAS and URE into my iphone list . DRL, AXL, and HOV still have a ton of shorts – the others – who knows (except JDJB) what tomorrow brings as any day can be dramatic here.
FINVIZ was actually OK about shorts (I dissed them past) they excluded insider held stock on determining the float. For instance DRL is 90% held by insiders. They report it’s got 43% short while ShortSqueeze.com has it at under 4%.
