Watchlist 12.10.12 | Apocalypse Please

Markets look good to continue to higher prices, and with Santa en-route with his gift bag full of high beta stocks & market leaders — the only thing that can derail him is the impending apocalypse, whether that means the stars align and the earth spins off its axis into the sun or the complete meltdown of AAPL.

In no particular order,

CRM – Text book bull flag on light volume. Watch for the descending channel for a break higher with volume.

TWC – $95.50 is gap & volume resistance. I tried this one last week but got shaken out. This week I will wait for volume confirmation before entering over $95.50. This time I will use a close under 95.50 as the stop.

BA – After a hammer on Thursday, we closed at the highs on Friday just under volume resistance and this descending trend line. Clearing resistance with volume should bring it’s first target – August highs of $75.94.

TEX – Closed over volume resistance of $24.66 and the descending trend line. I am watching this one for a continuation move higher. Stop is a close below $24.66.

APC – Watching for a move over price resistance of $76.63. Ideally, would like to see it on over 150% average daily volume. The 50ema and 200ema had a golden cross on Friday.

AVB – Watch the volume this week for a possible move over this descending trend line. If it clears the trend line on anything less than 50% average daily volume by 10:30am wait for the pullback. It closed below volume resistance of $134.34 on Friday.

LULU – Watching the descending channel. There is still an open gap at $74.20. If it clears these levels on above average volume I am looking for a first target of $77.00.

NFLXWatching the $90.00 gap resistance level for the next leg higher. Would like to see 200%+ average daily volume on the push. Stop is a close under $89.99.

CLR – Looking for this descending channel to break to the upside with volume. Volume resistance support at $72.92.

CMI – 6 months worth of basing, CMI is coiled up and ready to explode higher if the buyers step in. Volume resistance is $101.35.

CELG – Still waiting patiently for this cup and handle breakout. Clearing $80.42 with above average volume is the buy trigger.

Come on, it’s time for something biblical,

After last weeks run the $SPX has worked itself out of the cloud and looks much healthier.  The cloud gave us a bull twist and we are testing a descending trend line. Consolidation below this trend line and formation of a bull flag would allow this move to digest.

The stock bond ratio made a healthy move last week.

Bullish/Bearish scan ratio was 5:1. Here are my favorite setups going into the week:

XOM – We are just below long term resistance. Watch $88.15 with increased volume to start the next leg higher.

CHK – Worked itself above the cloud last week. Higher lows on the daily stochastics. Might be ready to start building a long position here. Needs to clear this descending channel with conviction.

DLTR – Tested this descending trend line on Friday. A push above it with above average volume will start a technical trend change.

V – Had a breakout trigger on Friday but I didn’t start a position. If we can clear it again/stay above it Monday with above average volume I will start a position. Watching $128.85 then $131.

SHW – Was watching this one at $134 on Thursday & Friday. I wasn’t impressed with the volume Friday, I am expecting another opportunity for $134 early this week.

PCYC – Nice bull flag forming, if we can start the next leg higher it should be an easy 5 point gain.

HIBB – Break out trigger of $61.95 but had well below average volume. Looking for another opportunity early this week.

COG – Another nice looking bull flag. Watch a move over $42.10 with heavy volume to start the next leg higher. Measured move would bring us to new 52 week highs.

IBM – Cleared this descending trend line on Friday. Watching for a continuation move on Monday, as long as the market continues to cooperate. Some consolidation would be healthy.

Great first week.

Finished the first week up 2.6%. Not a bad start.  A lot of it thanks to the AMZN trade.  Also did well with SPY calls, LQDT, and RDY.  Going into the weekend 95% cash and calling it quits early.

Trade safe.
