What the Hell are They Thinking?

obamacareiv

Fly encouraged me to blog on the Ft. Hood massacre this weekend, and well, I think I’ve illustrated my thoughts relatively well on his blog-posting on the subject

A quick wrap-up–

I think it’s a shame that the foreign papers — particularly Great Britain’s Telegraph — are doing better and more honest reporting on this subject– particularly about the background and description of the murderous assailant.

Our press, on the other hand, is already making pathetic excuses for the Wahabbist strain that threatens us even from within our own borders.   Like their co-religionists in the ruling Democrat Party, the mainstream press chooses to bury their head in the sand and ascribe blame to “random” mental imbalance, rather than the more obvious pathogens which have arisen time again.

_____________

All that said,  it’s even more despicable, in my book,  that the Democrats  are attempting to take advantage of the press cover given this horrific event to work an extremely rare weekend hoping to foist what the Wall Street Journal called “maybe the worst bill in Congressional history” on the American people without a single bi-partisan vote.

That’s right, Nancy Pelosi and her hard left co-horts in the House are making a power-grab of historical — and unprecedented — proportions with this week-end attempt to move your healthcare choices to Washington.   In historical terms, even more than the rampage at Fort Hood, this bill’s passage could become the worst news of the week, and perhaps the decade for the United States and the world that depends on it’s innovative system.

I urge you to contact your representatives in Congress and  make your voice heard as a taxpayer and defender of constitutional and personal freedom.   Do not let them get away with this theft.

As Representative Paul Ryan (R-WI)  makes clear in this clip — we as U.S. citizens want to be on the right side of history, and all it takes is a phone call.  Do it!

All Thanks and Praise to the Lemmings!

Lemming
Thanks, L’il Buddy!
_______________

As Fly may have already catechized, The Turkey Gods are all about “giving thanks and praise.”

So this month especially you must dig out the old acolyte’s robe, dust off the incense urn, and begin “lubricating the pipes” with a mixture of chamomile tea and castor oil to ready them for the proper Gregorian hymns and chants of the Season.

This year, a full First Rite ceremony of Turkey Carols and strong-bourboned wassailing will be reserved for the Blessing of the Lemmings — that annual bishop’s tradition whereupon all good Lemmings worldwide are blessed by the Turkey Gods for turning over the proceeds of their accounts to those more weurthy (sic), in the Gobblers’ Mercy.

That would be we of the Jacksonian bent, who have been blessed once again with said proceeds, thanks to an Oracle from the West, who has instructed his flock to proceed swiftly over the cliff of “Short [[GDX]] ,” much to our non-chagrin.

May he and his tribe prosper and multiply — in at least a more favorable rate than they have been proceeding over aforesaid White Cliffs of Dover.
_____________

To add to this morning’s glorious GDX burst, we are coming Turkeygod-awful close to $1,100 on the price of gold. This is a psychological barrier, obviously, as the more technical resistance resides about $20 north of that line.

That said, should we burst through $1,100, we may get a Maypole Dancing psychotic celebration of short covering in the miners as a whole, in which case, you want to be owning some juniors for purse-snatch quick gains that will accrue.

I like Golden Star Resources Ltd. (USA) [[GSS]] again, but also Allied Nevada Gold Corp. [[ANV]] ,
Yamana Gold Inc. (USA) [[AUY]] ,
[[BAA]] ,
[[CDE]] ,
Eldorado Gold Corporation (USA) [[EGO]] ,
[[EXK]] ,
Eldorado Gold Corporation (USA) [[EGO]] ,
Hecla Mining Company [[HL]] IAMGOLD Corporation (USA) [[IAG]] ,
Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (USA) [[IVN]] ,
NovaGold Resources Inc. (USA) [[NG]] ,
New Gold Inc. (USA) [[NGD]] ,
Northgate Minerals Corporation (USA) [[NXG]] ,
[[PAAS]] [[PTM]] (platinum WILL catch up!)
Rubicon Minerals Corp. (USA) [[RBY]] Silver Wheaton Corp. (USA) [[SLW]] Silver Standard Resources Inc. (USA) [[SSRI]] Exeter Resource Corp. [[XRA]] , and,
most important of all — Royal Gold, Inc. [[RGLD]] “The Grandmother Stock.”
_____________
On other fronts, commodity plays Thompson Creek Metals Company, Inc. [[TC]] and Teck Cominco Limited (USA) [[TCK]] are doing well again, and The Andersons, Inc. [[ANDE]] looks like it may have at least temporarily arrested it’s fall.

Monsanto Company [[MON]] is finally working on that Bollinger Band crash trade from a week back, at over $70, and let’s not forget about le grand merde fan hedge — [[TBT]] .

Last, pinless hand grenade [[CVM]] is on the move again, don’t ask me why, ask the Turkey Gods.

Pax Vobiscum, Children of the Turkey.

Diving for Real Dollars
_________________________

Yes, yes, you’re making Scrooge McDuck sized gains these last few days and you’re beginning to get all slack-jawed and drooly thinking about swan diving into your treasure pile of gold doubloons and ruby-encrusted silver chalices.

If you’ve been following along gamely, I’ll allow you that brief indulgence.   Swim away, just be aware that those Kruggerands have sharp, ridged edges and they can nick your hammies in mid-backstroke.

Let’s not forget, however, that this blog is first about preservation of capital.   We invest in hard money assets and companies because we believe the Fed is bent– like an emaciated goatherd preparing to skin and stew his last kid —  on destroying the currency.

One way that’s skinning is going to show up is in the eventual destruction of [[TLT]] .    For that reason, [[TBT]] is a Jacksonian Portfolio pick, and the only Double ETF I allow within those hallowed halls (though I love [[AGQ]] like Mrs. Jake loves an after-Christmas sale).

To my delight, it looks like [[TBT]] is “ready to rumble” right along with the rest of his Jacksonian colleagues:

[NOTE: My StockCharts machine is not working properly for me, but the narrative is TBT has gone:
1) Back through the 38.2% fibonacci
2) Through the major congestion finger by price & volume charting; and most important
3) Through and retested the recent downtrend line]

I will get that chart up as soon as I can wrangle it. Salud.

Get on the Train!

Trainpeeps

There’s room for Every-frickin’-body!
_______________________________________

It’s quite likely I’ll be busy today, so I wanted to throw a couple of brontosaurus burgers out there for your barbecuing pleasure in case things get all jiggy like yesterday.

‘Cause, make no mistake, we are entering into primo deal season here, if all of my bidness (sic) radar array are working in proper function.  My group is busier than a one-armed Palo Alto Perma-Bear at a self-congratulatory back-patting contest, and if the middle markets are moving, then I’m going bet the big boys have more cooking than just Uncle Warren’s Train Set purchase yesterday.

For one example, look for deals in the edumacation business, for one thing — companies like Apollo Group, Inc. [[APOL]] and DeVry Inc. [[DV]] and Career Education Corp. [[CECO]] have all been beneficiaries of a sea change in education delivery in the last decade or so.

However, I think the paradigms are going to change even more drastically going forward.  I am getting this intuition from the myriad start-ups and later stage deals I am seeing in this space over the last 12 months.   As a result, I’d look for tuitions at all but the most exclusive post-secondary schools to come down in the very near future.   As a father of four near-genius children, I couldn’t be more pleased.

That aside, I think there’ll likely also be acquisitions in the Precious Metalspace as well,  as the various hedged and non-hedged behemoths squat and mark their territories by gobbling up junior miners with promising cargoes of “ounces in the ground.”

To my chagrin,  I have no insight from an M&A perspective, as the majority of that deal making occurs north of our borders in the frozen outbacks of Canuckistan, completed by cigar-puffing investment bankers wearing snow-blindness goggles and polar-bear fur pantsuits.

Therefore, I can only point you out the promising junior and middle sized firms that may be in the snowmobile screens of various behemoths like Barrick Gold Corporation (USA) [[ABX]] , Newmont Mining Corporation [[NEM]] , Goldcorp Inc. (USA) [[GG]]  and AngloGold Ashanti Limited (ADR) [[AU]] .    These include:

Golden Star Resources Ltd. (USA) [[GSS]]

IAMGOLD Corporation (USA) [[IAG]]

Eldorado Gold Corporation (USA) [[EGO]]

Silver Wheaton Corp. (USA) [[SLW]]

[[CDE]]

Hecla Mining Company [[HL]]

Exeter Resource Corp. [[XRA]]

[[BAA]]

Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (USA) [[IVN]]

[[EXK]]

[[PAAS]]

Silver Standard Resources Inc. (USA) [[SSRI]]

Compania de Minas Buenaventura SA (ADR) [[BVN]]   ———->>>> note: this one can be an acquiror or an acquiree, given it’s geographic interest.

and of course, the “catch all”  — [[GDX]] .

There are quite a few more that I’ve left off as I’m rushing, so feel free to add your own, and I may or may not add or comment on those later.

Best to you all, and one last thing:  beware the bear traps — and those calling petulantly from within them.

Update: In a shocking and unexpected move the dollar is down again [[UUP]] .

Who could’ve seen it?  Heh.

BEHOLD!

buddah

$1,100 gold is right around the corner and we zoomed over $17 again on the silver to rest currently at $17.22.

As a result, the miners of anything shiny from platinum to tin foil have gone Batman on us and are leaping in grey tights and high-cropped riding boots from roof to roof.

Royal Gold, Inc. [[RGLD]] must absolutley be on your “Grandmother list” and I mean not for your grandmother, but for your grandmotherhood.

You don’t think Social Security is going to keep you in tea cakes and airplane bottle of Chivas, do you?

Also, for your dining pleasure, Fly has engineered a special gold list for The PPT and left it only for those whom I favor. It’s like stumbling into Aladdin’s Treasure Cave without use of magic verse or carpet.

You are that lucky.

You can see everything I mentioned last night launched out of the park today. That’s because Gold — and [[GLD]] has broken out to new highs again, and is on it’s way to $1,250 and then higher still. In addition to RGLD and the Jackson’s you want to get hold of these top Ten Fly Listers also:

Name              Hybrid % Chg              PPT Score/5.0

1 AUY                 43.21  %                                4.11

2 NXG                    27.36                               4.05

3 EGO                     33.55                                4.02

4 GG                        21.08                               4.02

5 AZK                     32.99                               3.87

6 GOLD                  42.64                               3.78

7 RGLD                 63.64                               3.78

8 ABX                    20.20                               3.63

9 GFI                    50.43                                 3.52

10 NEM                12.75                                 3.45

Go!

Be benificent to one another in this day of gloury (sic).
