Damn, I didn’t realize how much of a neanderthal I was. I like wasabi soy soup on my sushi and sashimi.
First firm I worked at blew me away as nearly every employee (including the partners, excluding the Asians… literally all of them, including the non-Japanese) performed the Wasabi soup special. I was appalled but couldn’t correct anyone due to my subordinate position on the totem pole. That was painful.
Thanks Chess. I always want to tell people right sushi etiquette, but we Japanese are so polite or open minded not to say. By the way, right way to tell ” Need more Sake’ is laying down the empty Ochoshi (sake bottle) : ) Even we don’t practice normally anymore.
Thanks for the tip! I’ve been a complete sashimi fucktard all these years.
