Morning Comments

Let us call a spade a spade. Inflation should be renamed currency debasement.

If the SEC bars “nekkid” shorting on brokerage stocks then the rules of the game are not the same for all investors. The brokerage firms can short any stock they like, but market players can not short brokerage companies. These brokerage firms have been “nekkid” shorting stocks for years. Some how if implemented this does not seem to be fair play.

At any rate currency debasement (CPI) has reached a 26 year high. Hurray for the actions of the FEDERAL RESERVE!!!

I thought this was an interesting quote before his career got started:

ALAN GREENSPAN: “In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation. … This is the shabby secret of the welfare statists’ tirades against gold. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights. If one grasps this, one has no difficulty in understanding the statists’ antagonism toward the gold standard.”
