Individual Sector Analysis

I like to look at the individual sectors especially during times of consolidation. This is especially helpful if you are inclined to build a both long/short portfolio. Sector analysis helps you separate the strongest and the weakest sectors. After all, not all sectors move in the same way as you will see below.

Why are you posting a trade that you “might’ve” put on back in March? Does that help anyone here or even give you any credibility for posting a trade nearly 6 months later?

/CL might tank here if the Euro drops below the 1.4713 level from the gap wed.

On the other hand, /CL will have difficulty getting above 72 without some serious action from /6E, looking to short an approach

Got in long for a scalp after /CL broke 72 with signs of strength in the Euro. 72.06 -> 72.12

Consumer staples the only sector breaking out. This is not bullish for the market. Not only because just one sector, but also because it is a defensive sector.

Good catch jpesce. Is also #2 ranked stock on PPT today. Depending on volume today looks to be in line
with John’s stocktwits teaching Tuesday night i.e. — higher highs, MAs under the stock and moving up,
strong volume yesterday w the move up

Posted yesterday that current holdings include UTA, TXIC, BIDU, APT. Bought SCIL at open due to blowout earnings on a neglected stock, knew that volume would be huge. I typically have a longer term horizon than others on this blog – usually 2-10 days.

Big interests (political & economic) on each side of the USD decline story. In the near term, subtle changes in the correlations are to be expected – these relationships don’t last forever and don’t work with every trade. Trade the chart patterns 1st!!!!!

Our pols have been reduced to suggesting that we may actually pay for our money at some point in the future. The bond market seems to believe while XLF not so much – as yet.

The real issue, to me, is that almost everyone in public office has a complete lack of understanding of financial markets & business. I cringe when I watch the Senate/Congressional hearings. Some of the questions they ask!!??

I agree, those hearings are cringe-worthy.

Most of the reps are focused on dividing the pie, not on the pie itself – – as always, a reflection of 50%-plus-1 of the electorate.

don’t forget about gold – that will unwind hard if the USD starts to see some real strength – another 50-100 pips down on the Euro ought to get some attention.

      targets 71.74, 71.56, 71.35, 71.22

upside potential should be limited to mid 72’s but I don’t want to be greedy unless SPX and Euro close poorly.
