I bought a few tiny positions yesterday and closed out a few more today most notably Suncor (SU). I’m not liking this action at all and frankly, I don’t care where the market goes from here. We’ve had a most epic run the last few months and I’ve made some decent coin. I still have some positions open and I had big cash reserves relative to my portfolio before I even started selling stuff the other day.
The fact that I’m impulsive and love fucking around with my brokerage account will be the death of me. To save myself from myself I”m “going fishing” the term just kinda fits, but in reality I will do some fishing and mainly just play golf as it’s more entertaining and hell, I already paid for it.
I don’t need to catch the inflection points and “make a killing on anything”. I’ve got it good and after watching that Paul Tudor Jones thing last night it made me realize, fuck dreaming of the profits, protect your capital.
If this was a war, and I was the general, I’d be back sipping tea while you pawns go out and risk losing your limbs. I don’t know where the market is going but I”m man enough to admit it. As a result I’m not putting much of my ammo into this current battle.

Dubz – what do you fish for up there? Rivers, lakes? I’m much more partial to saltwater than freshwater but i take what i can get.
Rivers, lakes and ponds. Rivers & Lakes on weekends usually if near a cottage and sometimes weeknights. Ironically in the core of my city there is a massive canal water way with adjacent ponds, sometimes on the way home I’ll just fish there and I”ve caught the largest fish all year from those ponds that locals will tell you “have nothing”.
I”ve been “Deep Sea” in C. America and off the coast of England, both great times.
On that note I’m off to go fish somewhere like 2 hours @ a cabin with some friends.
I also just realized that I have not gotten out of my chair since 9am.
Where do you go?
I grew up fishing off the southern shores of lawn guyland, where the waters are thick w/ blues, striped bass, blackfish/sea bass, weakfish (though don’t seem to be any of those around lately -wtf?) fluke, flounder and Yossarian’s favorite, the dreaded ‘thief of the ocean’, the sea robin.
These days when i’m up there, the target is always stripers.
Do a little lake/river fishing here in central va but can’t get too excited about the small ones.
I get out on the chesapeake every once in a while on a friend’s boat and go for whatevers biting, usually croaker, spot, mackerel and in fall/winter, stripers.
