Should I Be Scared?

The news of North Korea testing a nuclear weapon is pretty scary to me. The new great leader there, Kim Jong Un, is a wildcard. We don’t know how crazy or less crazy he is. He was schooled in the west, and loves the NBA, yet he had plastic surgery to look more like his grandfather, and has been nothing but trouble since he took control. Besides being on the West Coast myself, I fear what this could start. South Korea has said that it will take action to stabilize their market. But, what happens to the rest of the world? Everything is so fragile right now: the Middle East and North Africa are as volatile as ever, Europe’s banking system and economy are on the brink, Iran is as psychotic as ever, and our country is SERIOUSLY divided.

On the other hand, I doubt most people will even see anything but the headline somewhere. They’ll think about it for a second and then brush it off. Our Great Leader [sic] would never let anything bad happen to them. It’s probably not that big of a deal in the long run, but you never known what the tipping point can be. I hate to sound like a paranoid asshole, but maybe I’ve just been watching too much Walking Dead? I wish I could just watch the Kardashians, with the rest of my thoughts focused on what they were wearing, ah ignorance is bliss.

  1. Ignorance is bliss…until reality punches you in the junk.

  2. They haven’t had much success, I don’t think, with their missile tests. I’d be more worried about an attack from within the country if they really have a miniatuarized nuke. Sneaking it in across one of our borders, for instance.

  3. I would opine that the ME and Northern Africa are now even LESS stable than they were in the days of Qadaffy Duck and Mubark. At least we could count on those dictators to be consistent in their smashing of any opposition in their countries.
Throw the stinking morass that is Syria at present into the mix and the brew fermenting toward Armageddon comes near to a full boil.
