Given the recent shutdown one can say respectfully that at the very best we have a highly fractured political environment which exudes dysfunction and political embarrassment for our country.
More importantly, i will maintain that political theater is ever more present to try and keep control over the last strong holds of constituency; in order to keep the mantra going that government is working for you.

“Lawyers from the National Lawyers Guild (U.S.), International Association of Democratic Lawyers, European Centre for Constitutional and Human Rights (Germany), Brussells Tribunal (Belgium), International Initiative to Prosecute US Genocide in Iraq (Iraq, Egypt, Spain), Lawyers Against the War (Canada) and Rights International Spain (Spain) are urging Canada to either bar Dick Cheney from Canada – as a person credibly accused of torture – or to arrest and prosecute him on arrival, as required by the Convention against Torture. A letter from Lawyers Against the War (LAW) sent to Canada ’s Prime Minister, Attorney General and Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Immigration has been gravely ignored.
“It is long overdue for Cheney and other Bush administration officials to be held to account for the high crimes of instituting and implementing the systematic practice of torture. This record of impunity must not be allowed to stand.” Azadeh Shahshahani, President, National Lawyers Guild.
Torture and war crimes suspect Dick Cheney is scheduled as a keynote speaker at the October 31st luncheon of the Toronto Global Forum, hosted by the International Forum of the Americas . Should Cheney be allowed to freely enter Canada despite the illegalities involved, civil society groups are planning a rally beginning at 11:00 am on Halloween, Oct. 31st, outside the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

The U.S. Constitution leaves too many areas open to interpretation; a New Constituion of 2,300 pages (+ 200 redacted secret pages) is the solution.
The Obama Administration has proposed replacing the current U.S. Constitution (4,543 words, including the signatures) with a 2,300-page “new Constitution” that in the words of an administration spokesperson, “clears up the gray areas in the current Constitution.”
The proposal was launched after the success of two recent 1,000+ page pieces of legislation, the Affordable Care Act and the Dodd-Frank financial reform act.
An additional 200+ pages of the “new Constitution” are redacted due to the sensitive nature of the National Security-related amendments.
Lobbyists from key industries were invited to contribute amendments to the new Constitution;” constitutional legal experts were also invited to submit improvements to the current law of the land.
Some critics who have reviewed the 2,300 pages of the proposed “new Constitution” have stated that the document is impenetrable even to those with law degrees. Average citizens “will be unable to understand the laws that govern their lives.”
Other observers note that the complexity and length of legislation such as the Affordable Care Act and the Dodd-Frank financial reform act are already beyond the comprehension of all but a handful of experts.
An administration spokesperson defended the proposed re-write on the grounds that “the new Constitution will provide the clarity that people want in their Constitution.” ”

We can safely predict the inevitable budget-debt ceiling deal will spark yet another “the Status Quo is saved” rally in the stock market. But what happens after that?
Here is a three-year chart of the S&P 500 (SPX). The potential for another spike higher is reflected in the rising stochastics.
But overall, the chart is showing weakness and the potential for a serious decline. The negatives include:
1. A number of indicators (MACD and relative strength) are negatively divergent, i.e. they are declining as price moves higher
2. The 20-week moving average (MA) is stretched above the 50-week MA (i.e. the market has reached a point where the 20-week tends to converge with the 50-week MA)
3. The upper Bollinger band is flattening, showing loss of momentum.
Some similarities with 2011 are discernible. In 2011, a multi-month topping process traced out a classic head-and-shoulders pattern…..”
