I thought the U.K. was a perfect example of what effects austerity have. At any rate, this move is considered kicking the can down to the next government in Italy.

Comments »The IMF Will Cut Global Growth Estimates Shortly
“The International Monetary Fund will reduce its estimate for global growth this year on weakness in investment, jobs and manufacturing in Europe, the U.S., Brazil, India and China, Managing Director Christine Lagarde said.
“The global growth outlook will be somewhat less than we anticipated just three months ago,” Lagarde said in a speech in Tokyo today. “And even that lower projection will depend on the right policy actions being taken.” The new outlook will be announced in 10 days, after an April estimate of 3.5 percent, she said.”

NYC: 17 Shootings During Fourth of July Festivities
Wednesday’s Fourth of July celebrations in New York City were marred by a streak of violence, with NYPD officials confirming that 12 people were shot Wednesday between 5PM and 12AM.
The New York Post reports one victim, a 33-year old man in the Flatlands neighborhood of Brooklyn, died from a fatal shooting to his head. Two unrelated shootouts within 15 minutes of each other also injured five.
