The Forward (Yiddish: פֿאָרווערטס; Forverts), commonly known as The Jewish Daily Forward, is a Jewish-American newspaper published in New York City. Words are used for any number of reasons, and if you read the forward, it left behind its socialist roots a long, long time ago. According to your logic, the Washington Times is referring to that Grey old lady, the New York Times.

Oh, and you should read up on the German Social Democratic Party. The claim that “social” or socialist means something horrible that you make is steeped in deep ignorance about European history. Why, did you ever ask yourself, do European left-right distinctions fall along these lines? There are only “socialist” parties on the left, because European liberals (i.e., their version of Republican-libertarian types such as yourself) have a horrible record and history of war, depravation and outright stupidity. Think Napoleon the III.
