I wish I could believe Beck was totally nuts.
But it’s no conspiracy as such; it’s just human nature playing out as it has done dozens of times before.

Virtually no one knows history, including me.
    But I’ve been reading.
Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.

e.g., re: his book “I recall, as if it were yesterday, my feeling of regret at being obliged to bestow so much care and labor upon a subject to all appearance so utterly devoid of practical value. I am sure it never occured, either to my Michigan students or to myself, that it could ever have any bearing on our own country.”

Why compare the introduction of “assignats” during the French Revolution to contemporary reality and floating-rate exchange world? Did the French Revolution also introduce a Federal Reserve and have the deepest, most liquid bond market on earth.

Glenn Beck? This guy is a shyster mixed with a clown mixed with a loser and a retard.

It’s a friggin’ joke that this is what passes for serious political-economy on this site. There are a lot of great finance blogs out there, but this is bottom of the barrel crap.

Yes, it’s different “this time” because we’re not living in the 18th century, genius. While you might want to reduce everything down to it’s never different this time, think back to when you were potty trained. Is it different this time?

And yes, Glenn Beck is full of shit.

And I’m on this site because I’m a member who thinks ibankcoin a great site for trading and market information and thinks it deserves better than Glenn Beck and that he sullies its other fine qualities.

And who might you be? Since I’ve not seen you round these parts before. Unless, for shame, you’re just wearing a disguise and we’re just old pals.

And if you’re interested in finance blogs, you’re only a google away my friend. And if you’re too lazy to do that, then start with the blog roll on this here fine site.

Glenn Back from Wikipedia. The point I will underline is–gasp, not that he was reading Hitler–but that the extent of his secondary education was dropping out of a Yale Christology class. Now, I would never want to attack someone because they had no access to education, but is this the guy you would turn to think about your monetary system?

While working at WPGC, Beck met his first wife, Claire.[24] In 1983, the couple married and had two daughters, Mary and Hannah. Mary developed cerebral palsy as a result of a series of strokes at birth in 1988.[24] The couple divorced in 1994 amid Beck’s struggles with substance abuse. A recovering alcoholic and drug addict,[25] Beck has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.[26][27]
By 1994, Beck was suicidal, and imagined shooting himself to the music of Kurt Cobain.[26] He credits Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) with helping him achieve sobriety. He said he stopped drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis in November 1994, the same month he attended his first AA meeting.[26] Beck later said that he had gotten high every day for the previous 15 years, since the age of 16.[20]
In 1996, while working for a New Haven area radio station, Beck took a theology class at Yale University, with a written recommendation from Senator Joe Lieberman, a Yale alumnus who was a fan of Beck’s show at the time.[28] Beck enrolled in an “Early Christology” course, but soon withdrew, marking the extent of his post-secondary education.[26][29]
Beck then began a “spiritual quest” in which he “sought out answers in churches and bookstores”.[26] As he later recounted in his books and stage performances, Beck’s first attempt at self-education involved six wide-ranging authors, comprising what Beck jokingly calls “the library of a serial killer”: Alan Dershowitz, Pope John Paul II, Adolf Hitler, Billy Graham, Carl Sagan, and Friedrich Nietzsche.[26][28] During this time, Beck’s Mormon friend and former radio partner Pat Gray argued in favor of the “comprehensive worldview” offered by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, an offer that Beck rejected until a few years later.[26]
In 1999, Beck married his second wife, Tania.[26] After they went looking for a faith on a church tour together, they[26] joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in October 1999, partly at the urging of his daughter Mary.[30][31] Beck was baptized by his old friend, and current-day co-worker Pat Gray.[26] Beck and his current wife have had two children together, Raphe (who is adopted) and Cheyenne. Until April 2011, the couple live in New Canaan, Connecticut, with the four children.[32][33]
Beck announced in July 2010 that he had been diagnosed with macular dystrophy, saying “A couple of weeks ago I went to the doctor because of my eyes, I can’t focus my eyes. He did all kinds of tests and he said, ‘you have macular dystrophy … you could go blind in the next year. Or, you might not.'” The disorder can make it difficult to read, drive or recognize faces.[34]
In July 2011, Beck leased a house in the Fort Worth suburb of Westlake, Texas.[35]

The OWS crowd is every bit as absurd, or more so. And a lot more dangerous if they get their way.

True, but you’re comparing apples and oranges. Perhaps a more genuine comparison would be some msnbc anchor? Ed whatshisname? I mean, GB didn’t ever even go to college. He couldn’t even finish a single continuing ed class at Yale. And this is who the Republicans are holding up as a valued member of their party? Sorry, I remember a prouder more discerning party who had some gravitas. In the 80s, they wouldn’t let Beck shine their shoes.
