Romney is only an enigma because the MSM wants him to get the GOP nod. Once he is running against Obama, you’ll know more about him than you ever wanted to.

Ron Paul is much like Obama, at least foreign policy wise, which is why many are calling him insane. Other than foreign policy, he is the anti-Obama. Couple that with his rise in the polls, and you find out about his newsletters.

Perry is not retarded, he just doesn’t speak well. Before the age of TeeVee and the internets, I understand that speaking well was not that important for a President.

As for Gingrich, the guy seems to not have any convictions. I’m not sure this makes him slimy.

Santorum? Who knows. See Romney. Ever heard of Gary Johnson? Exactly.

I like Bachman. I think she tells the truth, or at least what the truth seems to be to her. I don’t necessarily agree with her, but for the most part I would trust her.

      Just my 2 cents.

I hate the GOP field as well.

        Not crazy, just poor judgment.

“I didn’t write my own newsletters in the 90’s, I outsourced them to Lew Rockwell and other incendiaries.”

        ??

        Fail.

That and his “America is the root of all foreign policy evil/Iran is just a bunch of decent guys defending themselves” routine is no different than the naive reasoning of the hardest leftie.

        That’s a Republican candidate?

Look up the definition of “power liberal” that is he who wants to “spread democracy”. The nation building, the building of embasies. These were Bill Clinton’s policies. The “fight them over there” mentality failed in Vietnam, and aside from giving voters something to cheer about by bringing troops home in Iraq (while stacking them up everywhere else), Obama continues to expand Bush’s Power liberal policies of nation building (which Bush ran against in 2000 and was not in favor of until after 9/11). You think that’s a coincidence that a liberal carries on such policies?

Further more, Ronald Reagan was the one who had this to say about the middle east in his autobiography

” Perhaps we didn’t appreciate fully enough the depth of the hatred and the complexity of the problems that made the Middle East such a jungle. Perhaps the idea of a suicide car bomber committing mass murder to gain instant entry to Paradise was so foreign to our own values and consciousness that it did not create in us the concern for the marines’ safety that it should have.

In the weeks immediately after the bombing, I believe the last thing that we should do was turn tail and leave. Yet the irrationality of Middle Eastern politics forced us to rethink our policy there. If there would be some rethinking of policy before our men die, we would be a lot better off. If that policy had changed towards more of a neutral position and neutrality, those 241 marines would be alive today.”

Can you imagine the name-calling that would ensue from the pro-war right if Reagan were president, and called for a more “neutral position and neutrality” today?

Since when did a central planning of socialist governments at American taxpayer expense in other countries, become a “conservative” idea?

Dwight D Eisenhower was an antiwar republican. There are such things, you know.

Dwight cut defense and his most memorable speech was a crusade against the military industrial complex and increasing spending.

Eisenhower held out an olive branch to the Soviet Union after Joseph Stalin’s death in March 1953 to the new Soviet regime in his “Chance for Peace speech”, but continued turmoil in Moscow prevented a meaningful response and the Cold “War” deepened.

He ended the Korean war. Despite being a war hero himself, his foreign policy was not one of war but instead using the resources of the CIA. It was Eisenhower whose CIA deposed the leaders of Iran, Guatemala, and possibly the Belgian Congo. The Eisenhower administration also planned the Bay of Pigs Invasion to overthrow Fidel Castro in Cuba, which John F. Kennedy was left to carry out. Paul would be only insane if he talked publicly about using covert military tactics instead of overt ones, and actually did.

You don’t have to have a direct “war” as a policy to keep america safe, in fact many times the opposite.

No kidding. The door is wide open, they just have to find someone to walk through it. Yet all of these ‘candidates’ are oblivious to what is right there in front of them.

That’s what happens when your candidates feel they have to pander to the fringe element of the party.

Bullcrap, Po. The GOP base is conservative and has been since Reagan. No one is campaigning in any other way than straight conservative. Their biggest mistake is when they go “moderate” and lose the base like with McCain/Dole/Bush Sr.

Unfortunately, without Ryan or Daniels or even Rubio in there, we’ve no real conservatives left. Maybe Santorum/Bachmann but they’ve not got the drawing power.

When Romney gets the nod, get ready for the equities market to plummet. Not b/c he’s “bad,” but because Americans will be challenged to reinvent.

Yes you cannot be right wing enough clearly. Unless you want to deny people the right of marriage and control over their bodies while espousing a “small government policy” and refusing to cut defense you are ineligible for a GOP endorsement.
In fact, the easiest way to get it is to announce the invasion of a country while kicking a homosexual women down a flight of stairs. Basically hits all the talking points.

Although the republican presidential candidates are attacking each other, we must ignore their weaknesses at times and remember the maxim that

“politicians and diapers should be changed often, both for the same reason.”
