    the real question is:

do people really have the money they’re spending, or do they spend on credit?

following that, who will pay for said credit when the spenders can not pay it back?

easily answered by OWS and Obama’s socialist followers:

those who did NOT spend more than they own. those who still have.
take from those who did not cause a dept/credit crisis and give it to those who needed a 2nd plasma tv in their bathroom.

take from the responsible ones, the “rich” and give it to the irresponsible moochers, the “poor”.

once their wealth is spent, get ready for the next round of redistribution.

There were reports that upwards of 75% of sales were either cash or debit.

This could be taken two ways of course. Either people are only spending what they have, or people don’t have any credit.

how low did businesses have to slash their prices to get that many sales?

8% or 80% increase in sales means nothing if it is multiplied by a 0% profit margin.

it only helps getting rid of goods that would be worth little in the medium run… older model electronics, food stuffs and so on.
